What’s the movie “The Break-Up” about?
Pushed to the brink after yet another "Why can't you do this one little thing for me?" domestic dispute, art dealer Brooke Meyer (Jennifer Aniston from Friends and Just Go With It) decides to break up with her fiancé Gary Grobowski (Vince Vaughn from Rudy and Couples Retreat), a tour guide in Chicago. Yet neither of them is willing to move out of the apartment they share, and the only solution is to continue living under the same roof as enemy co-tenants until one of them gives in. What follows is a series of tactics, sometimes suggested by old friends of the couple, sometimes by confidants and sometimes even by total strangers, designed to undermine the opponent. But somewhere between the pool table in the living room, the dirty laundry piled up in the kitchen closet, and the games being watched at full volume in the middle of the night, Brooke gradually realizes that what she's fighting for isn't so much the apartment as it is Gary. In an unexpected twist, Gary changes, but isn't it already too late?

She chose someone wrong for her but was unable to realize it at the time. She attempted to manipulate him into being someone he wasn't. Then she left him for being the person that he always was. Somehow he's the bad guy. Females ability to avoid accountability is truly stunning. I stand in awe.

She was acting so immature throughout the film. Playing mind games, turning his friends against him, attention seeking behavior (walking naked), all of this to let him know that he wasn't being appreciative of her? How childish can she be? You can just tell him, and if he does not change, leave him. I mean this is not rocket science, but apparently her character never really matured from a teenage girl.

She knows deep down the relationship won’t work because they are incompatible. But she wants to try and fix him anyway. Basically he’s an asshole who wants to have a girlfriend but still live a single life. @@samerdrich5579 I don’t know if we watched the same movie but they were both equally immature as hell, however she voiced how she felt. what did he do that was mature to show he listened to her feelings? Nothing, he decided to play mind games just as much as her. In my opinion her walking out there naked was her just being cute, if he had of gotten up and made a move in the kitchen I’m sure they would have made up in a few ways there. I don’t think it’s as easy as “leave” when there’s a home, shared bills, etc involved, why didn’t he just leave? He had the option aswell just as much as her. In the end she invites him to the ballet, in what world would someone look at that and think ok my partner is trying… let’s not show up 🤦🏻‍♀️ she tried and he couldn’t look past his immaturity to see that. Which is why he’s the one to try and organise a dinner with her, but she had finally had enough 🤦🏻‍♀️

I agreed with Brooke's reasoning but I HATED her in this scene. She was cruel and callous. This should've been a discussion done in the privacy of their home, not done to humiliate and ridicule him in front of her friends. It's very ugly. I dislike Gary's selfish ways, but Brooke was VERY ugly in this scene and it made me strongly dislike her. If she sat on top of the high horse, and make this same point privately, I would've liked her a lot more. I know too many women like her and I hate it.

Yea... that last "nugget of wisdom" shows just how little she knows about not only men, but the guy she's with. That's "single women keeping women single" advice. If hes going to come to that realization, he needs to do it organically. Not with her actively trying to push it by being petty and going out of her way to tear him down. That, dear people, is how one gets a man to see them as the enemy and there's going to be pushback because he will feel the need to stand his ground. Its going to put him on the defensive and he'll dig his heels in. Where she could have been chill, let him bowl, not turn everyone against him and when he reaches that conclusion himself, its going to be a more powerful realization. Especially when looking at it like "Wow, she could have been super petty about all of this, but she's been really cool about it all... she really was a great catch, wasnt she?"

You’ve obviously never been in a relationship. 😂😂 When people start dating, they only show the best of themselves but now that they have moved in together and have been in a relationship for awhile, he got too lazy and entitled and selfish. Yeah, get the fuck outta here.

You didn't get me 12 lemons! But it's not about the lemons! You don't take me to the ballet! But it's not about the ballet! You don't get me flowers! But it's not about the flowers! If it's not about these things, don't play mind games and bring them up. She's judging him entirely by these cherry-picked shit tests. For all we know, she could be completely ignoring/taking for granted multiple things he does do to show his love.

Lol did you even watch the movie? It was more like HE was taking HER for granted. Yeah she was setting things up to see if he was really serious and cared about her, but He was too stupid to realize how much he meant to her until it was too late. And that’s why he’s a changed man after their breakup and improved for the Better. He was absolute shit when they were together and got too entitled, lazy and too comfortable.
