I love Blackbeards characterization in how he's also a dreamer, and respects and actually even likes Luffy (shown in many scenes throughout). Classic pirate who wants it all. Favorite villain hands DOWN.

I think Imu is the Main antagonist and Blackbeard is one of the antagonists later in the final saga, But yeah it was good

I think besides Oda's incredible imagination, his brief undergraduate study in architecture really cemented his skills in worldbuilding. Although he did drop out due to being busy with OP, I think studying the foundations of architecture really helped him make his worldbuilding really stand out, compared to his peers. Each islands feel really alive and magical 😊❤.

6:42 not even joking everyone always asks this which I think is a testament to how epic it is. The song is "Adiemus" by Karl Jenkins on the track "Songs of Sanctuary" which was commissioned by Delta airlines for an ad campaign. He designed the vocals to sound like African hymns but didn't want any lyrics to distract from the sound so it's actually all gibberish.

We all know when people, especially fans of someone/something, exaggerate stuff or make hyperbolic claims. However, when it comes to One Piece, it is a FACT that it has one of the greatest world-building in ALL OF FICTION. Not an opinion, not a hyperbole, not a "statement on drugs". It's a FACT. Oda will forever have that credited to his name. Also, it's beautiful how One Piece is FINALLY getting the popularity it deserved in the West all along. Better late than never.

It is an ancient AMV at this point, but before this one, I always felt DNubsPro's 'One Piece in Six Minutes' AMV was the best One Piece AMV out there. (He also did a 10 minute version a few years later, but it isn't as good IMHO despite being longer and using better sources.) It has actual spoilers so I would never recommend it to someone unfamiliar with One Piece, but it has such amazing pacing while embracing the feel of One Piece that I just love it unconditionally.

I have been watching one piece amv's for over a decade and this one is definitely top tier. I looked at least once a year for the past decade for good amv's and then sorted them into playlists. I currently have about 100 pre-timeskip and 100 post-timeskip If you are looking for more content to react to, you might enjoy checking them out. I think the oldest video on the list was made 16 years ago so the quality on some is not quite up to modern standards, but sometimes the editing makes it an incredible experience anyway.

Spoilers in this comment. Proceed at your own risk. . . . I think it's amazing how Oda blatantly emphasizes the difference between kingdoms and regular islands. Knowing ahead that the world will suffer from rising sea levels, kings all over the world decided to live high above the ground. That's why their castles are much higher than the rest parts of the countries. Alabasta, Dressrosa, Drum Kingdom, Goa, and more. On the other hand, regular islands like water seven, whisky peak, little garden, although they do have places on high altitude, they're not used as residence. These details are such great overshadow yet again by ours truly, Eiichiro Oda!
