One Piece doesn't only tell about culture in Japan but around the world, because pirates accompany the sea around the world and don't be surprised when you watch One Piece to see some similarities in characters, places, regions or whatever it is in the real world. because Eiichiro Oda also appreciated it in One Piece from the real world and several regions 💯

yes, a lot of real life pirate references like Blackbeard (Edward Teach), Bartholomew Roberts, Edward Low, Capt. William Kidd, even explorers like Ferdinand Magellan and many more. What's more, Eichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, took many references even outside the irl pirates but also in the various folklores and myths around the globe, or let's just say many stuff. He even referenced Jesus' crucifixion at one point. Lol. Oda loves doing that. One character is even a reference to the most famous liar, Pinocchio, mixed with the popular tale of The Boy Who Cried Wolf (Pirates, in this case). One Piece is just massive.

One thing that consistently keeps me watching One Piece is the worldbuilding. It's unmatched Coming from other shonen like DBZ and HunterXHunter there are things about One Piece that might not be everyone's cup of tea. The Show is extremely cartoony and goofy at times. But it also pulls on your heartstrings and makes you cry. Oda doesn't just forget about characters, he has this story all planned out, which I absolutely love. Plotlines will resurface hundreds of episodes from where they were first mentioned ,and most of what you will see in terms of runtime in the show is character driven dialogue moments. One Piece spent like the first 60 episodes getting you primed for the first real arc and adventure. You got introduced to the main characters and got a taste of their goals. I only recently joined the quest for the One Piece, I'm only about 800 episdodes in(Just starting Whole Cake Island), but I can't wait to see how it ends.

You might have noticed a lot of "ancient" and "tribe" type stuff mixed in there, like ancient ruins etc. One Piece is one of the greatest adventure stories ever. Some people love to speculate about Ancient Egypt conspiracies in real life. One Piece is like that but it's actually going to have a conclusion. SOO many mysteries and dots to connect throughout the series. Episodes early on in the series become SUPER relevant in the late game as we learn more about the history of the world and how it came under the rule of the shady AF World Government Love your reactions btw. Your enthusiasm is great. Really hope you react to the series!

you want to know something truly mindblowing? EVERY place shown is visited by the The Strawhat Pirates (Luffy's crew) and/or other important named characters in the series. EVERY place shown has its own story, government, and depth of history. EVERY place is not just a random bit of a show piece. they ALL tie in to the own going adventure in some way, so much so that some very dedicated people have actually created a map that charts Luffy's crew in full! finally, EVERY named character is important in some form or fashion, with rich backstories that make them actually feel like people who live in that world rather than just more set pieces. the world building of One Piece is beyond top tier, and it is such an amazing adventure to experience!

To sum One Piece's story, which hasn't finished yet, there's still a lot of stuff to happen, but we're nearing the end, I'd give it 5-10 more years. But anyway, the main storyline is about Luffy, the protagonist, and his crew, The Straw Har pirates getting into piracy due to different reasons, but one thing that they have in common is that all of them are following their dreams and trying to acomplish them, Luffy's dream is to get the One Piece treasure and become the next King of the Pirates, basically to acomplish what Roger did. The other's dreams you'll see if you decide to start watching the series. One Piece has at the moment 11 different sagas, each one with a couple, if not more, different story arcs in them. And is in each one of these sagas and arcs that the secondary storylines in One Piece are found, all of them connecting to the main one and some even between themselves. These storylines range in theme between a non deadly competition between pirate crews to stuff as hardcore as mass murder, slavery, racism, xenophobia, and of course, war. Also, I noticed you asking about famous real life pirats in the series, the answer is that One Piece happens in a fictional world with superpowers and all of that, there are no real life piracy figures, but Oda, the author and mangaka of One Piece, creates characters based on those figures, for example: (SMALL SPOILER AHEAD) The real life Blackbeard's name was Edward Teach, and in One Piece there are two pirates based off of him, Edward Newgate, with the nickname Whitebeard, and Marshall D. Teach, conviniently nicknamed Blackbeard(he's the one that says the last phase in the video "People's dreams never end").

I’ve seen another that is similar to this called “the greatest story ever told” but you may have to put one piece after that to get the video that I’m talking about but it really shows how amazing they made the storyline as well with so many different things happening! It doesn’t spoil that much actually barely anything but it was my first video I saw of one piece that encouraged me to watch it and it really did show how well they made the show It’s only like five or six minutes long but it’s still there. But had attempted OP in the past and just never made it long enough to truly stick with the series. I now am a bit sad I could have know this story a decade sooner. But its really never too late to get into this story. Its fun, wild and emotional. The world is huge expansive and creative. The characters are well rounded with deep connections and well written stories and goal. The sad moments will make you cry over and over and the moments that make you happy can just make you smile at the thought of them. I know you're building up to it but if you do end of watching or reading (or doing both) for this series i hope you have fun and come to enjoy the world and characters we all love. Unlike many people I never saw any of these AMVs or reviews on One Piece before diving in. In 2015 when I started anime as a whole I was overwhelmed by how many stories were out there that I never heard of. Opening Crunchyroll for the first time was like stepping into a whole new world. One Piece was the 3rd anime I watched. I saw one poster of it and thought "I'm not sure I'll like this." But my curiosity won out and I started watching it. I came it expecting some goofy childish cartoon, and while it is Goofy, it gave me far more than I could've possibly imagined. A huge and rich world, characters so lovable I consider them my 2nd family, and an Odyssey of fun, adventure, laughs, tears, and goosebumps. This story continues to become more dear to me than any other work or fiction

If you want more introductory videos to One Piece, you should also check out Melonteee's "The One Piece Video", and SuperEyepatchWolf's "The Appeal of One Piece" and "Why You Should Watch/Read One Piece". It was also such a daunting task with over 1000 episodes to go. We ended up watching a few episodes every time we ate lunch together and it became a kinda thing to eat and watch. We're caught up now and he is so amazed by how the series is still going so strong despite its length. I highly recommend watching. Some of the later arcs are best enjoyed when consumed multiple episodes at a time. What is the most amazing is the fact that this video was made by a fan - Strawhat V. It amazingly encapsulates one half of the One Piece world (its beautiful diversity), while the second, more darker one, is greatly summed up in another video made by the same person - "Unleashed - Final Saga Trailer". I recommend it to you - although it contains spoilers, but they are not visible for a new fan, because recognizing them requires some knowledge about the events in the series. To provide some context to the geography of One piece, where Earth has multiple giant continents across the globe, the world of one piece has a single continent that splits the globe. The rest is all water. The majority of locations in one piece are all islands of varying sizes and climates.

The best feature of One Piece is that the world doesn't revolve around the main characters, its the main characters that revolve around the world. Just when you thought the Strawhats have done something incredible and 'history changing', you realise its very insignificant towards the world and it's history. It is only in the last 2 arcs that the ones that rule the world finally take Luffy seriously and start making a move.

So, the path to finding the One Piece includes circumnavigating the world. There may be some final plotlines to resolve after our heros find the One Piece, but most of the story happens along the way. The show appeals to many, many people for a wide variety of reasons. It does a lot of things really well - worldbuilding, characterization, fight sequences, and both short and long storylines in a variety of genres. It feels like a story that is constantly reinventing itself without losing sight of it's central goal or core cast of characters. It even pushes the boundaries of what is possible in storytelling in really impressive ways at times. I hope you enjoy the incredible journey!

I have watched "The Breathtaking World of One Piece" so many times. But for some reason, this time I got chills and was actually teary-eyed by the end. That has never happened to me before, so I don't know why it suddenly happened this time watching it with you. But One Piece is such a great, in-depth story. The world is huge, and the characters are vast.

Your comment about other stories, every OP fan would love the stories based on characters we learn from the previous gen of characters in this story. The old generation of characters could easily have their own stories .

Because you asked whether Oda would do other stories in his world after One Piece is over, next year, "Monsters", which was also done by Oda, will be released as an anime. It's a pre-One Piece story. It is considered canon to the current One Piece story. If you get the chance, you should check it out when it releases.

I'm all in for it. Don't feel discouraged by the amount of episodes or that people say it took over a year to watch. A year is basically nothing in a whole lifetime, but this show is a great task in a lifetime. Greetings from germany!

I see you have a poster of Jinx and Vi on your wall. If you liked the psychological conflicts in Arcane, you will trully fall in love with One Piece. It is a master work that everyone should watch.

As a manga reader of One Piece from the beginning (1997), this video is wonderful. It doesn't show spoil thing but just all the world of OP showed since the beginning. The music choice was beautiful also. One piece have way more islands to see than in a Wow (from Blizzard) lool If a MMORPG gonna out we gonna have so many time to spend in all these world of OP. Have fun watching the Anime of OP.

Please react to ‘The appeal of One Piece: Where to start’ next! Honestly the best time to start One Piece is as soon as you can, waiting until it’s finished seem like a mistake, because knowing what the one piece is will be the spoiler to end all spoilers! A secret that has been built up for over 25 years!

You said something interesting in asking if there will be more stories about the One Piece world when the main story ends. The best thing about One Piece is... we already know them. It's so detailed about the entire world, that even if something happens we will get flashes to what's happening in other parts of the world in reaction to it. Like the manga will go WEEKS without even mentioning what Luffy, the main character, is doing--it's all about how what Luffy just did last arc is having ramifications around the world, back in countries we haven't visited in 800 chapters, what the government thinks about it and how that side character from chapter 50 comes up again in chapter 1050 and what they've been up to this entire time. Each island has a deep history and we get to learn it all before we have to move on, which is what has built a full, real feeling world. Of course we'd accept 1000 more chapters to get even MORE about side characters we love, but I wanted to call out that the interest you showed in wanting to know more about the world is greatly satisfied by watching the original story too!

The best chapters in the one piece manga isn't the awesome fights rather it's the chapters where we get more exposition about the world and what's happening in it from someone elses perspective rather than the protagonists

Honestly the best thing about One piece is that it exists and progresses apart from the protagonist. The story revolves around Luffy but the world doesn't which makes the world seem so alive and real.
I watched One Second From 1000 Episodes of One Piece
