Nicely filmed and edited video but not really a review. I would have preferred a full demonstration of pulling a shot from the grind to the milk steaming. Dialing in a shot with barista guidance would have been nice as well.

@@juts89I don't agree really on this for this store. I trust this company based on my experience, and think they only sell products that they think are baseline good machines. I bought a Miele machine from them years ago and they were so so helpful on the phone, walking me through a somewhat complex problem fix on the phone. Really really knowledgeable staff. I am now a loyal customer and bought a recent Breville drip machine from them for this reason. Some of their other reviews (more like detailed demos) have been super helpful for me to pick out a machine among the thousands out there to choose from. Also I value the way they describe the coffee beans, based on flavor preferences, rather than brand only. Of course they are not perfect, but I like what they offer in terms of demo content in general.

What’s the difference between oracle jet and touch impress?
@mmarsbarr3 ай бұрын
Hmm not really a review but nice video. I've had the machine for a few months now and there's a couple of things the reviews haven't mentioned yet. 1) How the hidden screw adjustment in the tamp fan affects dosing because mine came out of the factory heavily over dosed to 25-26gms!! 2) Wifi updates - would be great to actually show what changed with firmware updates, when I first got the machine when it was newly launched there was an update almost every few days and it would have been good to know what the changes where, there is no documentation of changes anywhere, not even on the site. 3) No review has mentioned this but you can double tap the dosing, brew and steam wand to purge each item which is SO useful being that it is an automated machine. I feel like some of the reviews I've seen so far simply look at the spec sheet without any real-world short term use.
@johnfelbaum2553Ай бұрын
Thanks for the review/ product description. I've had a Gen 1 Oracle which I have used regularly for several years. Although disappointed that it didn't have a pressure gauge I've pulled thousands of shots with it. I found it to be somewhat unpredictable with shot volume and never felt pressure was consistent buuuut I really liked the dual boiler so I don't think I will be upgrading, if you could call it that, to the new Jet. Actually I panicked and went on line looking for a left over dual boiler model. The instant jet heater will need to get a few years under its belt before I would declare it reliable. Also, I currently multitask by brewing and foaming simultaneously so that will be a drawback too. My non touch oracle has had its issues but I still like it. I have replaced many leaking o-rings but still enjoy espressos every day.
@rbudish2 ай бұрын
I just got the oracle jet and I have a question about grind size. After going through the dial in process, it recommended a grind size in the high 30s, which is to the coarser end. But the grind still looks super fine to me (especially when compared to using a baratza to grind coarse for a Chemex). Are the grounds still supposed to be relatively fine around 36-39? Is a 39 on the oracle jet much finer than a 30 on a standalone baratza?
@wsteele58643 ай бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to overview the features and changes. Currently a Dual Boiler user (Seattle Coffee Gear supplied) and have gone down the rabbit hole of learning to fix all the things like leaking steam wand valve and o-rings, so it may be a while before I change to an upgraded model. In the end, witnessing how much single dosing and grind settings change my results, it may be a very long time before I move to an integrated grinder design machine.

I have had the Breville touch impress since December (9 months now) and I love it! It was my first coffee machine and I wasn't too into coffee but I really got into it! I'm not sure if the autotamp would be enough for me to upgrade. Filling the water from the front does seem good though. Its a bit of a hassle now
@elsupremo193 ай бұрын
Me too! Love the Touch Impress, and one nice thing about that one is if you want to do WDT or any other puck finishing techniques, you still have the freedom to easily do it. Automated tamping takes away some freedom as well. But the front loading water is nice and who knows, maybe the OTA firmware updates will bring added functionality. But by that time, there will probably be a machine worth upgrading to that has all these things. 😊
@elsupremo193 ай бұрын
I should add, it does look like the new Oracle Jet does a significantly better job auto steaming than the Touch Impress. But, I usually manually steam anyway, so not sure how much that matters. Now, if they added some of the capabilities of the $500 Ninja Cafe Luxe such as cold brew, cold-pressed espresso, and cold foam capabilities, THEN I would be really interested. Competition is the best!
@ladanjiracek2793 ай бұрын
@@elsupremo19 like I said, I was a beginner and am still not too much better nowadays so I couldn't tell you about different tamping techniques or taste a difference between hand steamed or automatic steamed. I was thinking of setting up some sort of automatic water refilling device and am extended coffee bean holder but with just me and my wife drinking it at home I'm still only changing those out every 6 days or so... I should stop being so lazy, lol! The cold foam, cold pressed, cold brew does sound interesting though

What are the pre programmed coffee options?
@mikehardcastle46183 ай бұрын
It still has a grinder on top of the boiler my old one affected espresso production. I think a separate grinder is much better
@SeattleCoffeeGear3 ай бұрын
The built-in grinder can be limiting for some coffee hobbyists but equally a good match for others so it depends on your personal coffee needs! Having a separate grinder can definitely provide more control in your espresso prep
@Wozzaatwozza3 ай бұрын
I agree with seperate grinder and I believe this machine should be offered in two options: with the grinder, and without the grinder. Also there is no boiler anymore it’s a thermo jet.
@simply_psi3 ай бұрын
I agree, but an all in one is a good solution for some people, such as where space is limited. It's perfect for a New York, Paris or London appartment. Or where power outlets are limited like an RV or maybe for those who prefer the aesthetic over the best coffee result. There are other Breville options for those who don't want an integrated grinder, but for the best coffee experience, I would suggest maybe a more prosumer brand rather than a consumer brand.
@pinggoestheslacks2 ай бұрын
What setup would you take over this????
@simply_psi2 ай бұрын
@pinggoestheslacks if you still wanted an integrated grinder then the Meraki on kickstarter would be a good choice, the grinder is still integrated but separate from the brew head and boilers, it is a dual boiler machine and even has a rotary pump instead of the more common vibration pump at this price point. It is a bit more expensive at $1800 retail but if you can still get on the Kickstarter it is more like $1200.

How does this compare to the Breville Dual Boiler in terms of espresso quality only?
@speaknup80093 ай бұрын
Would be useful to know about the machine's warm up time. Also, how long did it take to steam that milk? The review also should have included the sound of the machine during grinding, brewing and steaming. The volume and poor quality of the noises from my Breville Oracle are sources of aggravation for me.

I’ve had the BOJ for a couple weeks now. It’s ready to go in 3 seconds. As far as milk steaming, I haven’t paid much attention to the specifics, but about a minute. I think the sound is actually quieter than my previous Nespresso machine, but I can’t compare to other Breville models. I wanted to have a latte in hand within 5 minutes of waking up, and this has fit the bill so far. The surprising feature for me is that I really like the Cold Brew I can make with it.

Quick question: would this machine be ok for preparing multiple coffees in a row (let's say 4-5)? It's usually just my wife and me, but sometimes we have friends over to our place for coffee, so I'm wondering if I can prepare several of them more or less quickly, or I need to wait some time between them. Thanks for a great video, really enjoyed it!

I have the Touch Impress and really love it. BUT, the biggest problem Breville machines have currently is the $500 Ninja Cafe Luxe. I bought that for my mom recently and it does basically everything these machines do, AND MORE (cold brew, cold-pressed espresso, cold foam), in a clever/simple way for much less $. Notably worse grinder though that simply won’t work for the lighter roasts I think, but still a super compelling value. Will be interesting to see how Breville responds to actual competition! :)
@mamadouaziza25363 ай бұрын
But a lot of people won't be able to live with the inferior build quality of the Ninja. This Oracle is for a different customer than the Ninja.. This is for a lazy semi pro home barista. The Ninja is for the average coffee drinker who wants different espresso drinks, sort of the super automatic machines buyers market.
@elsupremo193 ай бұрын
@@mamadouaziza2536 This is very true. In fact, after writing the above comment a week ago, I’m now in the process of returning the Ninja, taking the Touch Impress to my mom’s house, and buying the Oracle Jet for myself. 🤣 The Ninja grinder is too poor, I had trouble getting the espresso that I wanted compared to the Touch Impress, too little steam power, and yes, an overall cheap feel. Not great!

@@elsupremo19 If you know already how to dose out the grind coffee into grams and do ratios (weight-water volume etc) and don't want the hassle of a digital touch screen and all the problems that come with it. I suggest just getting a very good semi automatic espresso machines that has a pressure gauge and a temperature PID/timer. Buy a good separate grinder.. If you already know how to manually make cappuccinos, lattes and other milk drinks, you don't need a machine to do it for you.. I think the Oracle Jet is a nice machine, it's a hybrid of a semi-auto and a super automatic machine. All the user has to do is move the milk jug and portafilter into place and press start, the machine does the rest.. I guess one can use the Oracle Jet like a manual machine too if need be and one can even use a separate grinder, one doesn't need to use the built-in grinder.. I would check out the Lelit models first and if you don't like them, send them back. Good news is that the original Oracle Touch is now discounted to $1800 at most online outlets such as Amazon and eBay. You want a machine to last a good 10 years.

@SeattleCoffeeGear3 ай бұрын
True, it's not a dual boiler BUT the dual thermojet does provide good temp stability
@Wozzaatwozza3 ай бұрын
Cost was reduced with the removal of dual boilers. Coincidently other jet boilers need more power at the time of brewing eg 20amps 110v and 13amp 240v. But overall use less power consumption as there is no boiler heat up and maintaining boiler temp. I ran my Profitec Pro 700 5hrs per day which is a lot of power.
@mwd64783 ай бұрын
I have the bambino which is a thermojet, I think it's better than a boiler.... I don't think some of the legacy brands have figured out the electronic controls for something like that and stick with pot of water + thermometer simplicity.... whereas Breville clearly has the engineering expertise. True downside is one at a time, but it's basically instant, accurate water usage and lower maintenance. Maybe a future model they'll have dual thermojets for use at the same time, the challenge there would be the power usage may put the device in a higher import / regulatory bracket basically...

I would wait for a real review. This was more a first impression. I also had an Oracle touch, replaced it with the Oracle, because of terrible display and non volumetric dosing. The Jet has pros with display, grinder and heating time. But your current with dual boiler is probably still the better machine and priced above the Jet. No-Go is waiting for frothing the milk, how long? 2 minutes? Your crema disappeared or is oxidated? In my work flow, milk foam and espresso are ready in parallel. We will see, but be sure before replacing with worse 😊
