I’m starting to enjoy building my models while watching your vids. Just put some custom styrene boxcar door tracks on a combination door boxcar.

What boxcar manufacture is it? What model is it exactly if you can share? I was thinking the same.

@@boomerdiorama it’s an old US hobbies O scale kit from the 70s or 80s. Nicely done body but details are grossly out of scale. Got rid of the cushion underframe and redid it all with scale h columns. Protocraft proto48 trucks and couplers. Next I have to make up ladders and install AB brake rigging. Been a fun project but a lot of work to bring an old kit up to spec. I went to Proto 48 to try and up my skills. Thanks for asking and thanks for what you do for the hobby.

@@boomerdiorama the US hobbies kit is a Pullman standard 50’ combination door boxcar. It’s a UP prototype but I’m modding it to Milwaukee Road.

@@1Nanerz That sounds like a cool project. I have a real soft spot for Standard "O" Scale (Proto 48). If I could find an O Scale GP9 "chopped" nose (undec), and a couple of hoppers, I would probably build a small shelf layout around it, with a grain elevator. ;-)

Boomer you did it again! You taught me that my 50 some odd inch t.v. is a needed tool in watching your videos! Lmao. When you got to the hand rails my smart phone was no longer acceptable for seeing the detail in the lesson. I'm going to jump the gun a little here and buy an electron microscope so I can watch how you add the tread details to the studs protruding from the nuts that anchor the feet to the concrete footers! Bravo sir... 👏 👏 the level of detail and quality of build you put in to scale you can't find in the contractors that build these things in the real world...

Someone "offered you a challenge you couldn't refuse", so I was expecting that derail to make an appearance. And sure enough, here it is. Feels very satisfactory watching the layout's stories grow. The scale of the completed + the upcoming details are going to be mesmerizing. I notice you have a wind sock, but I forget if you showed how you made it (baby boomer problems). Awesome, Boomer! =) Have you considered also adding the rooftop rails on top of the Brewery building as a final touch? Interesting visual feature as you noted on the prototype. Of course they would also need to stand up to the abuse of repeated moving of the building flat, so perhaps not worth the trouble, lol. ;) Cheers!

Try and use thin plastic or material you can cut out with scissors. I wouldn't be too fussy about details and paint. Just have fun with it. 😁

Yes. The area is tighter than I wanted, but it's the very end of the layout so it won't see much action other than a switcher perhaps. I know this sounds unconventional, but I took the brewery further than I planned. It was never meant to be compressed into the layout. It was a last minute decision. It was only meant to be a backdrop relief for the Barge slip. Cheers.
