This final episode completes the HO Scale Model Railroad Brewery Flat and Extractor scene. I also include an overview of the layout.

I’m starting to enjoy building my models while watching your vids. Just put some custom styrene boxcar door tracks on a combination door boxcar.

What boxcar manufacture is it? What model is it exactly if you can share? I was thinking the same.

@@boomerdiorama it’s an old US hobbies O scale kit from the 70s or 80s. Nicely done body but details are grossly out of scale. Got rid of the cushion underframe and redid it all with scale h columns. Protocraft proto48 trucks and couplers. Next I have to make up ladders and install AB brake rigging. Been a fun project but a lot of work to bring an old kit up to spec. I went to Proto 48 to try and up my skills. Thanks for asking and thanks for what you do for the hobby.

@@boomerdiorama the US hobbies kit is a Pullman standard 50’ combination door boxcar. It’s a UP prototype but I’m modding it to Milwaukee Road.

@@1Nanerz That sounds like a cool project. I have a real soft spot for Standard "O" Scale (Proto 48). If I could find an O Scale GP9 "chopped" nose (undec), and a couple of hoppers, I would probably build a small shelf layout around it, with a grain elevator. ;-)

@@boomerdiorama Lines West Products makes 3D printed chop noses in O scale. I’m actually working on 2 Milwaukee Road GP20’s built from Rad Caboose GP9 undec shells as well. Maybe I’ll do a KZbin vid on the builds.

Great series on this build, Boomer! So many techniques, but you really emphasized that preparation, attitude, and over approach affect the result more than the technique. And, of course, you must have the willingness to stretch your boundaries. Thank you for sharing all this!

Your videos are excellent and engrossing to watch. If I may make one criticism, I find myself spending more time watching you model (including your earlier footage of Glover Road) than I spend modelling myself... 😁 Damn you Boomer, something else to divert my limited attention span. Glad you enjoyed it. The 1970's was unbelievable for original music (before MTV and the corporate takeover). Every album was a bullet written in a garage . . . never to be seen again ;-) As a Boomer it was a remarkable time to grow up. Cheers.

You r scratch building is great. Good creativity and not to replicate everything, exactly as shown in the picture. Scratch building requires a lot of patience.

The Extractor defined that whole scene. Lot of great things your sharing and it's definitely appreciated. Can't wait to do scenery once I start my next layout, which will be 2 rail O scale steam era mine runs. It's those little tricks that really help us aspiring modelers achieve better and better results.

Boomer you did it again! You taught me that my 50 some odd inch t.v. is a needed tool in watching your videos! Lmao. When you got to the hand rails my smart phone was no longer acceptable for seeing the detail in the lesson. I'm going to jump the gun a little here and buy an electron microscope so I can watch how you add the tread details to the studs protruding from the nuts that anchor the feet to the concrete footers! Bravo sir... 👏 👏 the level of detail and quality of build you put in to scale you can't find in the contractors that build these things in the real world...

Beyond your exceptional diorama modeling skills, your video production is also fantastic. Thanks for documenting your music selection. The ending 'Drone' selection on this video was very cool and was glad the credits/link was there - fun to play that music again (The Rising by Aakash Gandi). I have my PC connected to my 5.1 surround sound receiver so could amp that up a bit...

Someone "offered you a challenge you couldn't refuse", so I was expecting that derail to make an appearance. And sure enough, here it is. Feels very satisfactory watching the layout's stories grow. Yet all I do is cheer from a country thousands of miles away. (And take notes and try your techniques out.) Great work Boomer.

The scale of the completed + the upcoming details are going to be mesmerizing. I notice you have a wind sock, but I forget if you showed how you made it (baby boomer problems). If you did, I'll go back & find it. It looks great. I figure perhaps one more brewery wrap up then off to another intriguing part of layout creation. We'll see if I'm correct. Enjoy!

Awesome, Boomer! =) Have you considered also adding the rooftop rails on top of the Brewery building as a final touch? Interesting visual feature as you noted on the prototype. Of course they would also need to stand up to the abuse of repeated moving of the building flat, so perhaps not worth the trouble, lol. ;) Cheers!

The legs also appear longer because the top cross girders holding the cylinder are shorter than the photo. Looks Great..😃 Cheers

Dear Boomer, your videos are really helpful and inspiring, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Would you have any suggestions for modelling with mild hand tremors when cutting and painting? I find it challenging sometimes and I wouldn't want to change hobby because of this...

Try and use thin plastic or material you can cut out with scissors. I wouldn't be too fussy about details and paint. Just have fun with it. 😁

When you get the warehouse and the hops unloader painted and finished you'll have to do a night photo with the lights on the warehouse Boomer!! When you finish the barge apron are you going to light it too?? This was a great build!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Will the ladder cage clear a hightop boxcar roof and all the engine cabs?

Yes. The area is tighter than I wanted, but it's the very end of the layout so it won't see much action other than a switcher perhaps. I know this sounds unconventional, but I took the brewery further than I planned. It was never meant to be compressed into the layout. It was a last minute decision. What is the brand name of your pencil sharpener, and who supplies it.

It's a Staedtler Mars Lumograph sharpener purchased at Staples. I think you can find them at Michaels Craft Store as well.
