"They say if you want to know whether the one you love is to be truly yours, you must go to the end of the bridge farthest from the village and think of them. If you only hear the sound of the water running under the bridge, that’s alright, they are really meant for you. But if they aren’t you hear the horseman galloping towards you . . . "

Obviously it’s not the same thing, but certain kinds of environmental-mycotoxins - when inhaled - cause My Mind to interpret ambient sounds into musical audio-hallucinations, and dreams. …What the Mind can do is pretty amazing!😉 (I always wish that I could write-down the music I ‘heard’/created!)

So, it appears that there was no taboo against marriage between cousins in that society. Frank keeps proposing to the daughter of his cousin Rodney. This is just one of a few creepy elements of this play and yet it manages to develop a compelling occult plot and complex characters. Those who can withstand the offense to their sensibilities will be rewarded with 85 minutes of escape from pandemic doldrums.

@clivejones1152

The actors union polices names so that's why you see say Samuel L Jackson as there was already a Samuel Jackson. So yes it is a young Andrew Sachs. You'll also find him here as Father Brown and Dr. John Watson. Like many good comedies they used proper actors. One of the other protagonists played the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham on tv.

@@clivejones1152 Chesterton Radio is missing a bet--if the play has a name actor/actress put that name in the description. I bet people would be more likely to click on a play if they knew there was a name actor in the cast. Not that I telling Chesterton Radio what to do. He knows his business better than me.

I so wanted to like this. I mean, the idea of the story is a good one. However, the script was quite awful and unfortunately so was most of the acting. The girl who was allegedly "Caroline" was decent enough but all the men were pretty awful sadly. I mean, let's face it, even well known actors when faced with a badly written script sometimes can't save it.

He was robbed of his true love. The father of Caroline that wanted money. Caroline's father actually went to the point of murder, so his family can marry into money that is my perception of what I got from this play. And thank you for the play I enjoy this one tremendously

What absolutely unmitigated tosh! This was the sort of thing the Victorians so enjoyed, surely indicative of some contagious psychological sickness. Stuff like this should carry the warning "MAGIC" to save people of sound mind from wasting time by beginning to listen. (Interesting that when Agatha Christie ventured into this sort fo territory her regular publisher told her to take her stories elsewhere.)
