I love the way you guys get out of your comfort zone to learn new things. Robby has a skill that not a lot of us has. He ask people that has the knowledge and expertise if he does not know how to do something. Perfectionist(Robby) make mistakes and fix it until it is perfect. Good job team.

Hi Robby and Hillbilly. It is very entertaining watching you guys create a rock crawler out of the remains of the BroncStar. And having to learn new tools and procedures to boot. Not to mention the complications of tube bending. What a challenge. I sincerely wish you both the best. I always had trouble starting something that I had never done before. I was afraid that the end result would not be perfect so I was reluctant to start. I found that experience and repetition are the key to finally getting a complex task completed correctly and looking good. So, when you get to Robby’s crawler you should have gained a lot of experience and repetition. It’s like spray painting. When you start you make mistakes. After years of experience and repetition you get really good.

Robby, your shop has a great group of people in it. Your wife, hillbilly and Dinner are just so much fun to watch. You guys have found something special in each other. We all benefit from that , as long as you continue to record what you’re doing as if KZbin wasn’t there, I believe that you will always be successful and enjoyable. It’s when people try to be something that they are not that things get “manufactured” and not as enjoyable. God bless those beeeeuuuutyyful babies of yours. Be safe gentlemen. Thanks for the memories

Boss, you are the voice of reason. Moab separates the sketchy from the not as sketchy. It is interesting to see Robby’s sense of perfection applies to fabrication too, so hopefully they have a strong safe crawler.

Hey Robbie & Hilllbilly, Before i retired, as an electrician, I worked on a few Power Plants under construction... Heat stressing is something, done by the electricians, with electrical heaters warped around all very large iron pipes, welded by the pipe fitters, in the building of electrical generating plants. It molecularity restructures all of the weld metal into the pipe metal. So now you know that what you did with the rosebud is very good to add stencil strength, and prevent failure, to your welds. Love you guys... 🥰

When I built the few cages and chassis supports that I have done, I always used a straight edge, strings, wire, and a temporary frame (2x lumber mostly, built square and plumb around the area you're building to, basically just like it would be if you crated the truck up, but just the rails), so I could have a reference to find my angles and intersections in 3 dimensions, to keep the tubing square to the frame and body. Easy to use a small nail and tie a string across so you can measure from one plane to another, and then mark and measure your angles for bends.

If you’re planning on keeping the 2.9L word of warning there’s always vacuum line problems with them that messes up the idle and the throttle cable is probably stretched and needs some zip ties for spacers behind the gas pedal. Not the best engines but I think they’re interesting, they’re from Cologne, Germany and were for the European market originally. Tons of info on therangerstation forum for these trucks.

Super cool seeing someone build a Bronco II. First time for me. I’ve entertained the idea of building a crawler out of my 94 Explorer that I’ve neglected for years. Then I remember that I live in Florida where there are no rocks or really and good trails to play on… and I’m a truck driver so I don’t have time to play around off road even if we did.

Robby and Hill Billy good job you guys are doing the only thing i see wrong at this point of your build is when you are making things fit custom just a small word of advice tack weld everything before you fully weld it in place it makes things go alot faster if you made a mistake it makes things alot easier to break or cut tack welds if things need to be changed later as you go . also i was wondering the mock up wheels if they are 17s and you want to sell them after your finished with the build i might be interested in buying them thanks guys your doing an awesome job so far 👍👍👍

I am with Hillbilly, All that factory AC and heat is in the way. Heat I can deal with and you can add some fans to help if need be. As far as heat, they make and sell after market heaters that work great and don't take up a lot of room and you can put it about anywhere, and duct it to where you need it. So, the forklift, haven't heard anything about it in a long time as far as progress.
