5:20 Comment about foam padding: It does have EVA layered in between the self and lining fabric on the bottom of the gusset. We removed the bulky foam now that electronics have slimmed up but wanted to have enough EVA for protection.

Thanks for the clarification! I was used to the feeling of the 19 being really thick on the bottom so that probably threw me off. Definitely feel like my stuff is well protected in all my Conceals and this one is no different :)

Is the tbb camera cube a thing if the past? I struggle to find one that works. Usually end up using a Tenba byob but the tbb looks 💯.

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve wanted to pull the trigger on a Conceal pack. I still do, just hard to justify when I already have a GR1 Heritage, the Bellroy Apex, and a Trakke Cobra Bannoch as my main backpacks. Those three packs are near-perfect for their individual use-cases.
@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
Agreed. All very different in how they act. The Conceal I think would be similar in many ways to the Heritage.

When a tradesperson who's worked at their skills for all of their lives, gives the ULTIMATE compliment by saying that they couldn't have done this good of a job... Damn. This is the best looking "Goruck-style" bag I've seen yet. It's beautiful. Great review!

I think they are all (including Goruck) based on medic bags. In any event, it's a wonderful piece of manufacturing.

@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
Makes sense, that shipping is steep. It's actually cheaper to have it shipped to Korea by quite a bit. Still, a lovely bag. Maybe look at getting a used one on the Carryology Facebook group. A lot of people there are pretty good with figuring out shipping stuff.

Looks like a great bag and I enjoyed the review but it doesn’t tempt me at the price and similarities to the Goruck in size. Phew!
@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
For me, the price actually makes sense for the bag. It's more "work" to make than a Goruck. I don't think it's as intense though, by any means. It's more of an office, daily carry vibe for sure. It's basically the exact size of your heritage 26 that also do the office and such amazingly well so. Completely get you, haha. I'm a sucker for that orange, what can I say.

So far, I'd say it's closer to what my brain thinks is 25L than 21L. But in my mind, that's a happy surprise.

Curious to see the full review and compares. Trying to understand where the volume is going on this bag. You said it is similar size to GR 26 but it has a much smaller laptop compartment even without any false bottom. Shorter on the top, and I am guessing less deep as well. Seems much smaller. Wonder how it would compare to GR 21? Thanks for all the effort on these.
@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
I don't think the laptop compartment is smaller, in fact, it may be bigger. The zipper is smaller. The compartment is the entire size of the back of the bag. I think the smaller entry point is a wash with the having to flip a strap out of the way on the GR1. The front pocket on the bag is certainly larger than that on the GR1. The volume measurements on all bags are whacky so it's hard to go by what any company says in relation to that. My guess is, this could handle about as much as the GR1 26L in use.

I think this is my next bag! Can I ask if you can measure the depth on the outside? It looks really thick in that side comparison shot with the GR1 26l.
@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
I think the specs are on both companies' websites. The Conceal was fully packed in this video and the GR1 was empty when I showed them side by side. That's probably a little of what you're seeing. The Conceal isn't that "thick" in reality.

If the vertical pocket was on the opposite side for swing around right-handed operation purchasing this bag would be a no brainer. Unfortunately, they went with this weird decision, as I've seen from other brands including Bellroy. After ownig 40+ different bags muscle memory to operate them has become stubborn.

I’ve always liked how TBB Conceal bags looked but it’s hard to get off the GR1 train. It’s like a slick GR1 with more external pocket volume. Not sure how this will carry with weight though EDC weight isn’t substantial. Not crazy about the vertical organization interior pockets; would have preferred a retention flap with Velcro at the least. I don’t need a camera cube but that tropical mc one you have is hotttt.
@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
I have a cheap 19L Conceal and even that is quite comfortable to carry. My guess would be this 21L will be of similar comfort to a Goruck if not slightly more comfortable under load. The straps are lovely. The internal pockets, I don't mind. I like NEVER use the mesh pocket down there on bags but somehow tend to use these. Although, I dunno how long that would last, ha. I don't carry bottles so not sure I really "need" them. Ironically my much cheaper Conceal 19 has velcro on those pockets to keep them tight. That camera cube is like one of the most versatile things I own. It works for everything from a camera to a daily sling to a lunch box to an insulated (yep) cooler for beer.

Aside from the main use of rucking, it seems to me like the goruck and conceal are bags that both offer great durability and use cases. It also appears to me that its cheaper than the ruck, because I also get the impression that the justification for the ruck's price point is their brand name and image, and not necessarily the product... How much more useful, in application, is this product compared to the ruck? It looks like it was designed after the ruck with a consumer-specialized use case. Sorry for the nerdy vocab, I wanted to be specific lol; almost pulled the buy trigger for the ruck the other day, and still debating. context: I go to uni
@jtinseoul70413 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider this to be modeled after the Goruck as they were started at similar times and feel very different in use. Douglas, who founded TBB is a legend in the bag industry. It's not like some sudden start up or the like. Douglas's name is easily as 'worth the price' as Goruck's to people in the bag world. And I'm a huge Goruck fanboy saying this. The conceal is a lot more office/daily carry oriented than most Gorucks. The straps and backing have some of the nicest airmesh I've seen and are very comfortable. If there is one bag that is certainly with its price in bags, this is probably it. Feels like it was built but am absolute master to me. Hope this helps!
