I've only just heard of Bruce Lacey on the BBC iplayer recording "Catacombs of the Mind". At one point in my life I would have labled him a nutter. Now I'm older I think I can relate to his dogged self determination to just do what gave him pleasure. But in doing so he seems to have given lots of other people pleasure as well. Perhaps if more people just did things that pleased them the world would be a better place for more people. Life's too short to take it all too seriously. Thank goodness there are people like Bruce Lacey to help us see the world in a more interesting and colourful way! Long my he survive in our memories and in his creations.

knew Bruce and his wife Jill very well, they lived in Saffron Walden. They were always having mad parties. His eldest daughter Saffron was good palls with my Daughter. He put on alot of shows at the Oval arts club, and my boyfriend of the time was teaching him the guitair. A lovable magical wizard, would have made a wonderful character in Harry Potter. Enjoyed his stuff at Glasgow's Museum of Modern Art, in the 90's. A colourful character (I bet he listens to Gong.)
