I’m in agreement here. For many years, through reading etc., I always felt that there were many more Nazi Officers, guards etc who should have been executed. I have come across more history that perhaps there were more who stretched the neck. I have same problem about Nipponese war crimes however I understand there was a lot of behind the scenes Politics (US) to maintain Emperor & insert other politicians thus keeping the piece

After ww1 there was a lost generation. Many of the young men had been killed in the war. There were few prospective husbands for the young women. Those that were had no job prospects to marry and raise a family. The young women had no expectations to comfortable marriages as housewives. Most working class families could not afford to keep their children in school and they could only look forward to a life of menial labor. And many of them resented it like hell. They were easily manipulated by the nazis who offered scapegoats and easy answers. And many wanted good paying jobs I see unfortunate parallels among our young people today. Those who came of age during the Great Recession had crushing student debt and no job prospects. Even now they are playing catch up. They are just trying to enter the corporate ladder. At the same time they are unable to afford home ownership because rents consume so much of their income. This has real long term consequences. They can’t leverage home equity to borrow responsibly and drive our economy. Many of our young people see our military as an opportunity to better paying jobs and a college education. Extremist organizations see them as prime meat in their internet recruiting. Income inequality is worsening and so is susceptibility to political extremism

Not enough murdering Nazi's were held accountable for their actions during the war. In fact, thousands were allowed to settle in the USA after the war and tens of thousands were assisted by the Catholic Church in escaping prosecution and resettling in South America. Every single Nazi and their supporters should have been held accountable and be given the punishment so that God can judge them, too. Same goes for the Japanese. Their horrific crimes went unpunished.

They were nothing more than instruments, rather than instrumental to the executions. In a sense, today’s executioners who are executing the prisoners on the death row, are no different from those who were serving the German Nazis. German female guards would not have the sheer authority to make decisions on the POW. She probably escorted the victims of Nazis to the slaughter house as part of the orders they were executing, but they wouldn’t have the authority to make that decision. Jews were prisoners of war too, because they didn’t participate in the war. And that cost them dearly. They were better off to participate in the war, instead of trading gold and goods and trying to hide and but the Germans for their hides.

There are numerous videos of concentration camp guards who were ruthless. I don't understand how people can be so psychopathic that they don't feel a thing when they either beat someone to death or choose them for the gas chamber. It must be a German thing.

Scarcely a Kraut thing. You need to look into the post-War behavioural experiments into obedience conducted by Stanley Milgram. And beatings to death were rare, though much more commonly conducted by women, because they didn’t have firearms. Guards at concentration camps were subject to phenomenally strict rules and forbidden from beating them, if they encountered or even suspected the possibility of violence from an inmate: they were permitted only to shoot them. Immediately and dead. Delivering a Warning Shot was also an immediate court martial offence. This was all intended to keep the captives in a perpetual state of terror. If a guard suspected even the possibility of an escape attempt they had to likewise shoot the inmate dead immediately. In exchange they got a financial bonus and a three day furlough pass. So obviously they eventually resorted to just random shooting people. In addition compared to the horror meatgrinder of the front, concentration camp guards got better rations and a daily supply of strong booze. Guards testified they were all steaming drunk all the time; and people queued up around the block to do their job because of the perks.
