@allenjenkins79472 жыл бұрын
@@jimmyavpi I was referring more to the description of her execution rather than to her crime, which was definitely both brutal and cruel. From my personal viewpoint, decapitation, hanging and shooting are brutal, but not necessarily cruel if done properly, whereas electrocution, gassing and lethal injection are cruel, but not brutal. All are barbaric and belong in the same dustbin of history as chattel slavery and flogging.

All correct, but: She was the daughter of the Brand-Erbisdorf mayor (a small city close to Freiberg). She was not executed in Dresden, but in Freiberg prison, while a chosen audience of around 25 dignitaries was standing close by the scaffold. The soldiers of the Freiberg hunter's garrison were grounded that day by fear of riots due to probable outrage, though she was a very nice, worth striving young woman. Greetings from Freiberg/ Saxony

Women dont generally have the "freedom" to leave their husbands, and he may well have threatened to kill her, leaving her little choice but to kill him instead. This is what comes of consorting with hardened criminals. The men can generally get away with much more cruelty than the women. Only God can really judge, and she may have our sympathy, if not our leniency.

After watching many of your vids since conception of the channel, I have to say I've grown fond of Europes fairness in treating men and women more equal in sentencing for their crimes. As an American, our country is so screwed up when it comes to sentencing guidelines as well as capital punishment based on sex! Women get the slap on the wrist almost always, while men get locked up and the key thrown away! Maybe I am wrong on my assumptions, comments from European citizens appreciated.

In Europe* (European Union and related European countries) there is no death sentence since several decades ago. We had enough of every form of barbaric ''justice'' thank goodness. And crimes such as all methods of execution are, cannot deter crime. *Only in the non-democracy of Belarus, people are still executed - with a bullet in the back of the head, I think. Even Russia - an also non-democracy - is abolitionist in practice, though one can never be sure for how long yet.
@davidgaine46972 жыл бұрын
European law is steeped in antiquated tradition. The European Union that sits in Strasbourg is the pinnacle of the gravy train rather like Congress. You have to come from the right schools and educated at elite universities to ever hope of being a civil servant. The elected representatives come and go but Parliament remains steadfastly Kafka-esque relying on quotas, commissioners and faceless bureaucrats who hide behind mountains of red tape that are used to justify their continued existence. If you want to know how the system works you won’t go far wrong by reading Kafka’s “The Trial”. Or if you want to laugh read his “The Castle”. The human capacity for self aggrandisement is well documented in Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”. Europe’s contribution to International law is about as useful as the much beleaguered Interpol who have never in their illustrious history secured even one successful prosecution. If you don’t believe me look it up. The EU moves at glacial speed scouring everything it touches. We don’t need the EU and its protective umbrella. We need commerce. The Freedom of Movement and The Free Market Economy have turned the Euro into a hyper inflationary time bomb. We will stick to the pound thank you very much despite the possibility of Scotland acceding from the UK and applying for European membership.

A public execution is in a public place, not behind prison walls. Today it could be televised, which I believe would be beneficial. Criminals and would be criminals might think twice before doing something that could put them on death row, if they actually see someone paying the ultimate price for their crime.

@@deadhorse1391you’re flogging a dead one there my friend. So many miscarriages of justice have been committed by incompetent law courts that even hundreds of years later compensation has had to be paid out along with posthumous pardons that have had to be rendered because of state miscarriages of justice. The whole point of “The Enlightenment” was to move away from state murder, not extoll its dubious merits. I’m no bleeding heart liberal but even I recognise two wrongs do not make a right.
@mchapman1322 жыл бұрын
Not all stay “locked up for life”. Some bleeding hearts petition for them and some have been released only to kill again, or kill in prison. With capital punishment, there is zero recidivism. Only selective murders even qualify for death. Today, indisputable DNA is needed to make sure the right person is punished. Years past, that was not available and some innocent people were executed.

Let us not forget, Romans 6 : 23. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Wages is payment for the labor one does, so she justly received payment for what she did, but there is something far greater than that. Sin encompasses every wrong doing in our lives and God condemns sin and so death is the consequence of sin. Where does that leave us? Romans 3 : 5. For all have sinned and come short with of the glory of God. Because we all fall short of his expectations and are more than capable of doing the same, he has provided a way by which we can receive forgiveness through his Son. Romans 3: 24, 25. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. 25. Whom God has set forth to be the propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.
