We have decided to film this episode because we want to reveal something to you that they normally don't tell you when you are training Muay Boran.
Since Muay Boran is gaining more and more popularity, unfortunately, it is becoming a brand to earn more money with it, but we are not referring to that.
The reality is that Muay Boran is not a single style, but several.
Muay means "union, create unity", it is colloquially understood as "traditional" boxing and Boran "ancient".
The sporting development of Thai martial arts from the 1930s meant that traditional techniques were increasingly forgotten. Since these represent a valuable cultural heritage for the Thai people, the ancient techniques were summarized and classified as Muay Boran in the early 1990s (On our website you can read an article about the History of Muay Boran). Unfortunately, not all knowledge could be saved. Therefore, Muay Boran, in addition to its natural strengths and weaknesses, has its odd gap. Muay Pram, for example, originally had a wide repertoire of fighting, throwing, blocking and choking techniques, of which only a small part has been preserved in the various regional styles, especially Muay Chaiya.
Muay Boran's goal is to preserve the remaining knowledge of traditional Thai martial arts and create a unique system so that students all over the world can train it.
Therefore, it is important to keep an open mind and not fixate on just one style but study the others as well in order to fully understand the principle.
Kreng Jai Boxing or Kreng Jai Muay was born out of this effort. It is based on the different styles of Muay Boran. But it is not limited only to an effective and complete self-defense system, but also provides a development of greater inner strength, calm and mindfulness thanks to mental and spiritual training.
