Next time, can you do a longer post-battle review? Mostly checking more of the remaining enemy units, their casualties, ect. Like for example, the North flank was absolutely swarming with enemies! No wonder they held out! Not a complaint, but a request. Absolutely love your Combat Mission vids and glad you are getting back into it.

Fourteen British servicemen were killed when their Nimrod surveillance aircraft crashed following an on-board fire. The fire was caused when a fuel transfer pipe inside the aircraft ruptured during in-flight refuelling. The aircraft was serialed XV230 and was crewed by RAF Flight personnel drawn from No 120 Squadron at RAF Kinloss. Dude you're attacking a village by sending a couple guys crawling from one mile away. What are you doing? taking it slow is an understatement. What's the initial firing started you gave the insurgents time to bring everybody forward. The insurgents could have hired some scientist invented a nuclear device and then launched it on your entire division that you left sitting there since the beginning of the fight.

The right hand side was closer but there was absolutely no cover and everyone on that flank got massacred.

Im just saying if you got prioty targets (IDF assets, AT or Recon) you should utilize reconnaissance assets to identify and use the literal Fuck out of your IDF assets (mortars, CAS, arty, AWT) and pay attention to what kind your sending size, attitude, round dispersion, ammo type, ammo count, point or area mission and duration of fire mission. All of that matters and if used correctly would of killed a lot more targets on your left flank and you could've worked the enemy down and used smoke missions to all to move your troops into the left portion of the town for cover. (US Army Cav Scout SSG) not bragging just a fan trying to give you some tactical insight.

Tip: having your units crawl anything more than a short distance will exhaust the shit out of them. Makes them more prone to being pinned and breaking.

Don't use slow or hunt for moving around the map, your infantry will be far too knackered by the time they get to the fight. Hunt is best used in forested areas tbh. Just use move quick, and if youre worried about contact just separate the squads into fireteams and keep one on overwatch! The CM Wiki has a page on movement commands and what they are best used for! Nice to see this getting some attention! Keep it up.

This game is worth every penny, I love it. I just finished the British Campaign on Epic for my first run through. Took me some time. Took substantial infantry casualties but only lost 1 tank. I am on to the Marines next! This is a great video man, I watched this and basically bought the game straight away. I am back here to watch it again. Thanks for the content dude. P.s If you do your unit positioning and orders whilst having the camera positioned outside of the map, I found it tends to get a bit lagy.

Too be honest the only thing keeping me from buying combat mission is the $80 CAD price tag lol, it's more than a DCS module and for the same dated engine as a decade ago, really wish the titles ran several times smoother / without jank than they do since they have so much to offer ;( I know the engine is updated with each release (Kind of similar to how graviteams Mius Front has also been updating Tank Warfare Tunisia too since its on same release engine) and I love Combat Missions modern titles scope, scale of factions, scale of combat and weapons platforms, but performance wise it just kind of runs with more stutter than i want to pay 80 bucks for, you know? Awesome vid Diplex, lol if its ever one sale I probably am going to buy Shockforce 2, Cold War or Black Sea tbh :p

This map was all about the left flank. Once the buildings on the left side are taken you can slowly encircle the enemy. Clear the outside layer then slowly move in layer by layer. Vehicles should have moved down the roads under building cover, not in the open. Urban warfare is all about using structures to ensure you only take on one position at a time. Being engaged on multiple fronts is death

I think the best tactic would have been to use snipers to sneak up and recon the town, find the weakest point of deffense, mortar the shit out of it, pull up a vehicular assualt line and push them up to the road and send your infantry and mech infantry running to the town, and keep the vics in the area for support, and slowly clear the town Im no expert so if anyone wanna Discuss this id gladly talk it out

He didn't use recon at all. Drone coverage would have helped immensely. But without that, sneaking snipers up onto the left and right sides of the map and using his recce teams with order to hold fire or withdraw when fired upon would have worked wonders. Once targets were ID'd calling for fire from mortars would have helped, and he could have directed his forces accordingly to prep for an assault. The stollys are light transports, like humvees, not fire support vehicles, and could have been used to speed his infantry across the open terrain under cover from smoke while the Scimitar and other rovers laid down a base of fire from the ridge. This would have been a boring first 20 mins just getting in place, but then again, that's what makes Combat Mission great.

You do a leader's recon, that way all your key people are in place. The leader's recon determines the overwatch positions. He doesn't explain the communications options. He fights it WW 2 fashion. The parameters are different. Norman Schwarzkopf summed it up one fatality is one too many. After you have overwatch you move to contact. Whatever shows up gets done.

I don't remember which CM game it was or if it was a mod but there was a dynamic campaign i used to play years ago.. It let you create a group with points (you can set the amount of points) and take this group you make from mission to mission and everything that happened to them was tracked including experience etc.. Is there something along these lines available in this game?

I saw from another youtuber that there are campaigns you can play that have static things, like your vehicles will stay damaged over missions, no replacements for lost squad members, stuff like that. You still get ammo though

in shock force 2 ur best bet to clearing a town is bomb it to hell with arty and air support than find pockets of small enemy resistance and focus a majority of ur troops to destroy them from afar. than once you feel you’ve killed everyone in the building is when u move in to confirm the deaths and kill any last stand mad men or pacify surrendering enemies.

I was saying in my head your fighting on two fronts. You have the power position. Don't make make another engagement. Sread out the troops sure, but not enough to alter the front. P.S. Focus heavy fire at the technicals to take them out quick. Lead your scimitar on the left flank, closely followed by the jackels and the other vehicles after the technicals are dealt with. Keep your snipers on the bridge, when clear, get a transport for them and bring them in. I believe this will force your way in to the town. P.P.S. I ain't from any army - I'm fifteen. I am a strategic nut and a fast thinker.

technically speaking the landrover was designed as a replacement for the Willys jeep in both military and civilian roles. (aditionally the US used landrovers in the gulf wars, as they have higher mobility and deployability than even unarmoured humvees)

His forces started in dead ground behind the road embankment, why waste time and energy slow-moving? Also, moving vehicles on the road is asking to be IED'd. Push up beneath the embankment, have recce identify targets and called mortars, then move up vehicles and infantry to fire positions. Once obvious target have been eliminated, recce by fire (shoot anything that may conceal enemy) and pop smoke to push forward to town.

are there any vids out by people very knowledgeable of the game and mechanics of it. these vids are good but id rather learn from someone rather then with someone as it raises more questions then it answers. All suggestions are appreciated. Im a big graviteam fan but this game looks pretty good as well but seems to have a similar flaw. Complex and deep mechanics and balancing, with very few facts on how they actually work beyond a best guess.

You're not alone on that, I think it is the textures in either in the video or in the game are muddy and the ground texture is difficult to look at. For me it was anyways. Kinda like playing an old game on a 4k monitor, you see all the rough edges and it can be distracting.
