Our pa. Rifle season started on Saturday after thanksgiving. Haven’t had any luck so far , but we’re getting a decent snowfall here on this Wednesday evening. I was able to take off work tomorrow so hopefully we’ll see some action. They are calling for up to a foot , so I’m figuring about 4”. Lol. We’ll see!

Good luck there today! Didnt make it to pa this year...first year since college days(1994) for me not to make it there from NY. Just wasnt in the cards for this year with the weather and a sick pup but I'll hopefully be back there next year.

Very nice to see people pass on bucks. I get frustrated seeing people take spikes/young bucks. Nice video.

For me, it depends on the year. We do value the meat...but I wasn't feeling it on this day!😁

Went out to Wynn & New Glosster this year with Jackson guide service. Lots of signs but no sightings even jumped a few does. I’m convinced deer in Maine know the dates and times set by MDFW for each rifle season. Cause I know within 2 minutes of stop time bucks pop up take a stretch and walk right up to you. Still love how beautiful dawn and dusk were this year, definitely a warm season.

Glad to hear you were close to deer! Yes, I'm pretty sure the deer know you can't hunt Sunday in Maine 😂

So how did you like having a removable scope after you put one on I was thinking about putting one on my 308 Remington but wanted to see what your thoughts were on it because sometimes I need a scope when I'm driving to my hunting spot
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
I really like it, Greg! I haven't used it in the field much but I definitely would buy it again. In fact, I think I am going to put one on my muzzleloader.

They are moving, we just got dumped on with snow. So work will have to wait
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
😂 That's right...priorities👍. As they say- "Why do today, what can be done tomorrow...or next month"- 😂. Well, at least that's what a hunter says during hunting season!
@45-70GuyАй бұрын
@@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastdefinitely, though being in the trades this is the time of year everyone waits until last minute to wrap up jobs. Makes it hard to get away. Today we just got another 6” so it helps to slow things down work wise since everyone is busy out plowing

Great stuff. I’ve heard you mention you went to graduate school, do you mind sharing what your degree is in, and what you do for a living? I’ve seen some references to a pharmacy?
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
Yes! So, my undergraduate was in biology/chemistry and you are correct...I went to pharmacy school after that👍.

@ very cool, congratulations. I have a MS in Environmental Engineering, not that it matters. But, I do enjoy the thoughtfulness you put in your work. I would have went crazy trying to build a strip canoe and film it at the same time.
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast28 күн бұрын
Nice! Yes, I have to admit…I’m not a fan of filming while woodworking. When I start working on a project, I get in the zone. You can probably relate. Woodworking has always been a kind of therapy for me. I think I’ll keep it that way😁. Hats off to the guys that have woodworking channels. Takes 4x longer to do anything! Appreciate the comment 😁!

@@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast Absolutely. I will make a trip up to the NMW someday to deer and/or grouse hunt. I really enjoy seeing it from your perspective, beautiful country. Enjoy it for all it's worth!

Ever thought about investing in an E bike to get down those roads faster?
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
That's a great idea. I know they have become popular. I prefer to hunt my way in...it's just so relaxing, not to mention, bikes are prohibited in many areas we hunt. Thanks for watching!
@Rather7600Ай бұрын
Do you like to get into thick stuff and poke around or do you “visit” and hang out in each cut?
@MaineOutdoorEnthusiastАй бұрын
I'm pretty curious, so I go pretty much wherever I get the itch to check out that I think deer might be hanging out. When we have no snow, I try to be as efficient as possible and spend as much time as I can where the bucks are traveling. They spend a lot of time traveling along the edges of old cuts or where the forest transitions. So, naturally, I always find myself along the edges of cuts (also, it's an industrial forest, so everything is in various stages of growth).
@Rather7600Ай бұрын
@ thanks Paul, looking to do my first whitetail hunt in Idaho next season, someday may make it to your side of the country.
