We pick up our journey down the Buffalo River on day 3 at a bend just past Erbie. After a couple of cold, short paddle days put us behind schedule, we are ready to put some more miles on the canoe. Plenty of good whitewater awaits us, along with a much welcomed paddle break bushwhacking up the Nars (Narrows) and exploring Skull Bluff.
Trip Date: February 26 - March 4, 2022

good video! hit ya'll with the sub! keep em coming.. just a tip... when those water filters freeze they can crack on the inside and not filter properly.. I've heard some people actually put it in the sleeping bag with em to keep from freezing.

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely keep the videos coming! Ooo great idea! I’ll remember that tip for future for sure. Definitely seems like a solid way to keep from ruining a filter.

Oh lord! I’m afraid of heights! Great view though 😊. Just curious if you ever have any bear encounters on your trips?

Sorry I just saw this. I’ve had a couple of black bear encounters but never had them coming into camp or anything.

Can you share your bannock recipe?

Absolutely! 1 cup flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 cup powdered milk, 1 tbs shortening. Super simple and you can scale it from there. I mix the dry ingredients at home along with the shortening (which I melt and mix in). Then just add enough water in camp to make a dough consistency. I like it best over the fire or straight on the coals, but it’s pretty good in a pan too if you add a little butter or oil to sort of fry it.
