Comparable to a Burly Akimbo designed by someone who understands equipment linkages. But sounds like a few climbers out there need some machining so they can shuttle a prusik or something. Do you think the redundancy would void the mechanical advantage?
@TreeMuggs_PatrickM7 ай бұрын
@@AdvancedStructuralPruning I would not add a prusik above the Bone, certainly doesn't need it and would make it a real pain to use...

I figured as much. Thanks for bringing something that can compete to the Market. I don't get up there enough to justify $345 when I can work with MRS. Unless this thing can do what it looks like it can do. And Serviceable! Can we schedule a test @climbingarborist? I'd like to find out if he thinks it's safe 🪖🌲 Even though it doesn't have a International stamp of approval ($$$$$$$)

I love my BDB. Might be my favorite mechanical device. I have never figured out if there is a purpose for the hole in the center. I thought at first it was to attach the end of the rope for climbing MRS but I'm not sure. Anyone know?
In tree stuff seminar that one corporate guy was saying this device and others were not rated..but have wanted to try one..
@ethanlancaster768 ай бұрын
They’ve been around for about a decade now and I haven’t heard reports of any major accidents, so I’m going to give the thousands of climbers that are, or have used the BDB the benefit of the doubt even if it’s not CE rated.

I finally got one of these, went with the self adjusting bolard version. It Wont run atall on tachyon ash or cherry bomb and tending was too stiff on hyperclimb - an 11.2mm rope. What ropes work best with this version? I can see you're using km3 max in some of the bone vids.

I've had good results on km3, rebel, squir, blue moon

That weight limit is a bummer for me, I weigh that much without my gear.
@TreeMuggs_PatrickM8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think all mechanicals have a weight range or limit. The climbing rope is probably the main factor here, thicker vs thinner line...

Does it flatten rope? Because with my rope runner pro it flattens my drenaline rope so I get creep when I descend, and if I tighten it up a setting it’s too much friction. How does the bull dog bone handle ropes?
@TreeMuggs_PatrickM7 ай бұрын
Flattens a little bit I suppose. I like it on Courant Squir, that line stays nice and round....
@justinrutan17958 ай бұрын
How does it perform with pitch, curious as it looks similar to akimbo and that doesn’t get good reviews with pitch

I really don't climb many sappy softwoods to be honest, mostly hardwoods here. So I don't have a good answer for you....
@billycrotty41028 ай бұрын
There all the same. Be no better than a rope runner pro, all just mid line attachable friction devices.

Hi Patrick. Just curious. Have you seen my video on the BDB (kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOQmmSOlqigfpYsi=nSovD9JUDvU4D60d)? I've been using the device since 2018 and have never been dissatisfied. I was told I was foolish to buy this device since it was not certified and required you to sign a waiver as a condition to purchase it. But as soon as I saw the device and tested it, I knew it was trustworthy. You did a great a job on this video, Patrick. Kudos to you, my friend!
