*NOTE* A few people reached out to me talking about the Swedish/Finland comparison - the only alignment I was making was with the impact of ski‘s and ski warfare. I flashed a note about it on screen but it was rather quick. I’m not talking about era, alignment, cultures (besides skiing culture), etc. The Finnish battle of Suomassalmi was the most notable example of ski warfare which aligned well with the boots being shown.

LUNDHAGS! They do the modern version of these, they call them "shell boots"; they are quick drying, able to be aired-out while walking when you keep the upper and tongue wide open; the double layer of sock is paramount with them and important to carry multiple pairs of socks with you to change out of and dry the others

Most of older military stuff was made to last forever and a lot of it does. I have a winter coat from the 40s that looks almost new despite pushing 80 years old.

I own multiple pieces of clothing that are military surplus and made in the 30s-50s. I love them, the quality is amazing! Only things that I have had to fix are some buttons.

Great to see these being talked about here and at Rose Anvil. Might I add that the metal eyelet in the loop on the back of these and their all leather counterparts is for connecting to the m59 trousers that have a hook front and back on their ankle cuffs. Incidentally the contemporary wool trousers are superb in their own right.

Bought a pair of the brown leather ones 25 years ago they were so good I bought another pair 5 years later in case the first pair wore out. Iam still wearing the first pair about 4 months a year. I probably wasted my money on the second pair as I will probably never live long enough to wear them out!

@mikewin. We use those boots for that in the Swedish army. Skiing with the skies called Vitablixten (white thunder). So you are on point. And oh yes I’m older so now a days there are an upgraded version (i hope). Cheers

the winter version of those boots were basically made of felt, from what I know. those are spring/autumn ones; summer ones (that I own) are just a single lasted leather boots that go above the ankle. awesomely squerish

I caught the last two years of the DMS during my time in the British Army. They were truly terrible. As soon as the were exposed to active service they failed. I remember the day went to collect the replacement BCH (boots combat high), also now retired

Also, important tip: if you’re going to buy a pair of Swedish or Finnish surplus military boots or already own a pair, please be aware that they often only come with a midsole and not an insole! So they will feel REAL REAL big and the midsole is very hard and may very well hurt your feet a bunch if you go running around in them! Lots of options to make or purchase an insole…Redwing sells cork composite insole inserts which are pretty cool, and I prefer the standard insole inserts from Thorogood. Or make your own with wool felt or dried moss…

I had bought a couple of pairs in the 90s at a surplus store. Found out the hard way it's not a non marking outsole. Looked like a kid took a black crayon and drew all over the floor under my desk. The janitor hated me.

These boots are really cool. They are not waterproof. I have two all leather pair. These boots were used in the falkland war. They are getting very expensive. Varustekela in Finland has cheap shipping. They have leather and the rubber one's. Mine are from the seventies. Awesome boots, very comfortable. They beat any modern boots. Highly recommend leather and the rubber one's.

Yeah, very much like the 'Park' boot. Except Lundhags has a more modern look (and materials, even though the upper part is still 1 layer leather).

Pretty weird video as far as the info about the conflicts go. You show a lot of footage from the Finnish winter war in 1939 while talking about a Swedish boot from 1969. Sweden has not been in a war in over 200 years, so when exactly where the Swedes lethal thanks to these boots? Sweden was in fact the only Nordic country that remained neutral during WWII. All other Nordic countries were involved in WWII by either being invaded by the Soviets or the Nazis. Yes, there were about 8000 Swedish volounteers that went to fight in Finland during the Winter War, but are these boots from that period? As you yourself say, the boots are from 1969, 30 years after the fact. Probably could have used some better research or scripting, because the info in the video comes of as muddled and that the Swedish and Finnish army are somehow the same.

Dms boots arent rubber inside, theyre exactly like a trad boot. All leather. Also you forgot to mention the ammo boot, which you showed reproductions of and 2 photos of. I do british reenacting and collect british militaria so sorry if i sound like a knowitall

You’re correct re Boots DMS and the British Army. Mine were incredibly comfy, but leaked like a sieve 😂. You’re also right about these boots being on the Falklands; they were worn by the Royal Marines. The fact was that we were geared for fighting Russians in NWE (plus ca change) and not crossing bog land.

В них следует подобрать самостоятельно очень толстую стельку, я взял одну тонкую изолирующию а вторую из американский военных берц. И очень хороший трекинговый носок. И шнуровать их нужно вокруг ботинка тоже.
