I grew up with this movie. Watched it many nights with the family in front of the tv, on a blanket while munching on popcorn and M&M’s. I can practically quote it word for word. And while it’s a funny movie, there’s an underlying darkness to it. This scene in particular used to creep me out. The use of music, the art of storytelling and great acting. Such a unique movie.

So i just noticed Ricky and Art was drinking beer isnt Ricky suppose to be like a 16/17 yr old in the movie, and I like how Ray pocketed his lighter
@101Volts4 жыл бұрын
Yes, Ricky is supposed to be 17 or so. Then again, the legal drinking age in America is a bit higher than in other countries. I don't want to encourage overdoing alcohol but I can't imagine that one or two beers at night, after work, and away from driving is going to be problematic *if* it's done in good moderation. Key words being "if" and "moderation." I had my first beer at 19, but it was under parental supervision, and Dad discouraged me from overdoing it. Amen to that, since I've seen what happened to both Errol Flynn and Gene Ween from their alcoholism. Alcoholism sure took its toll on their bodies. *Errol Flynn was also a heavy chain smoker, though. He died at 50. Gene Ween is alive, but his alcoholism did a number on him.

Here is my question, Does the movie ever explain how Mr. Clopeck got to know Walter! They would haft to know each other because the Clopecks picked up Walter's mail for him. Ray Peterson did have a point with the wig there, but in the end they killed the Naps. How did the clopecks meet walter the film never explains that.
@michael9974510 жыл бұрын
see your point butt thats just one of thoughs movie things
@timentwisle47329 жыл бұрын
I just watched that part, true, but in my opinion the dialogue should have said "Apparently Monday night Walter had some Heart problems so his daughter took him to the Hospital, they saw Mr. Clopeck outside he offered to help and she said Can you pick up his mail" That's really what the script should have said. Dana Olsen wrote it as: "Apparently Monday night Mr. Seznec had some Heart Palpatations so he called his daughter and Son-In-Law took him to the Hospital , seems that the Doctor got the wig mixed up his mail. "They could have also said, Since Mr. Clopeck is a doctor he was outside at the time offered to help. That would really shed light on how The Seznec's met The Clopecks. In other words Mr. Peterson The clopecks met walter and felt comfortable with him picking up his mail. Because Walter apparently wasn't comfortable with Mr. Peterson's mail note that said "I have your dog" Walter thought he kidnapped Queenie. That's just my opinion, but either way Just a movie, and it got an A+
@Barfyman362.9 жыл бұрын
The wig was in with the mail because Ray put it through the mail slot when he was leaving the note.
@timentwisle47329 жыл бұрын
Correct, but it doesn't exactly (Key word) say how the clowpecks and walter met, it just says he had heart problems and the clowpecks picked up his mail. for that scene, he should have said "The clopecks introduced himself to walter and said the least we can do is pick up your mail" how does that sound?

So, Ray stops Art from stealing a lighter in Walters house when they broke in. However, at 1’15” of this clip, he brazenly steals Ricky’s lighter. Ray Peterson knew there was only room on that block for one evil family, and he wouldn’t stand for the Klopek’s interfering with his plans to dominate the neighborhood.
@Bonez0r4 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it was not a lighter that Art tried to steal, but some kind of decorative glass ball, like a big marble. Anyway, what's the difference, all that junk is going to end up on a flea market sooner or later anyway.

Bonez0r You’re right. Idk why I thought he lit his cigar, but he walked in with it already lit. That makes it even more funny, the fact that it was just a random paper weight.
