I remember this from my school days long ago. It's a funny story, and it's a social/political commentary. That part is lost on me because I don't know enough about the details of what was going on at the time to connect the dots. It doesn't matter. Keeping that in mind still makes the story even funnier and more sophisticated. He would be on sensory overload today.

Umh, just as I love listening to the great British suthors read by Brits with their beautiful, elegant English, somehow Mark Twain is best with a tongue in cheek, very American accent narration. But thanks for trying anyway.

the accent may have changed over the last 150 years.

@@carlosgaspar8447Has evolved somewhat but the Southern accent still prevails. In case you don't know, Twain was a Southerner. Anyhow, it's also the tone that counts. I've heard Americans narrate his stories and even though they may not imitate a Southern accent well, they go for the tone-in-cheek intonations consistent with Twain's humoristic style. To do justice to his style, you just can't narrate Twain in a dry, serious tone.

@@carlosgaspar8447 It's possible. AI has a tendency to grossly mispronounce some words due to phonics. I haven't detected any yet, but that hasn't been my focus. If it is AI, it worries me ... don't take the Mark of the Beast. Hang tough and go back to hunting and gathering. Lol!

@@carlosgaspar8447 Not in the south, only the vocabulary and syntax. It's more limited and lowbrow today.

How so? AI can't read any faster than I can. I'm not saying it isn't AI. I'm saying that criteria don't apply. I can keep up with it. The only difference ... I need a lunch break. Lol!
