Embarrassing because the alignment of the family with the plutocratic elites - the video just briefly mentions the bankers (Brown Brothers Harriman) and the Rockefeller family, but fails to mention the depths of it, and e.g. the Skull and Bones society - leads to them being a political tool of such people higher up in the hierarchy, gaining their political power through the plutocrats' financial means, and not acting in the interest of the people. This is a general concern with plutodemocracy, but you can see specifically in the Bush politicians that such "leaders" lead their nations to "banker wars" and other secret acting behind the scenes, resulting in the deaths and misery of billions of people.

So many comments from people who didn’t know these men. My husband was close to this family since HW was Special Envoy to China during my husband’s father’s tenure as his countries’ Ambassador. HW helped my husband with strategic introductions when he immigrated as a young graduate student and later put him in charge of the Food for Oil program, as well as issuing him an open pass to the WH where he acted as a trusted advisor during HW’s Presidency. They would often meet for lunch at their favorite Chinese food restaurant in Vienna, Va. My husband stayed with the Bush family at the Mayflower hotel when they gathered for HW’s funeral and sat just a row behind the family at his funeral. Unremarkable you say? Well, please factor in that my husband is a Nigerian immigrant, self made billionaire and the first black to break into US oil and the “old boy” oil network. And no, he is not a criminal but the most honest and above board person I’ve ever known, quite a feat since my father was a well known and highly respected minister of the gospel.

This was an interesting retrospective piece on layered levels of political intrigue & activity. I’d forgotten the Congressional reviews of CIA back in the 90s, during H’s term. Thank you, OML, for that reminder. Although, I wouldn’t attribute the brevity of his term to that. Not at all. Though it’s a heady political saga, as well as a financially-shrewd path the Bushes have apparently followed, I’d have liked to have learned more about the family members outside government ranks. How they maintained virtual anonymity & privacy would’ve been informative. But I guess if you’ve got Intel friends, no further explanation needed. I suppose it also goes without saying that the Bushes couldn’t have possibly been the first prominent family of the nation-concept to have successfully skirted the infamous “One Drop Rule,” but it is certainly an avenue of so-called “Americanism” that is never given much scrutiny nor credulity in policy/in practice once Gen 3 is safely ensconced in the ivy leagues of academia, then on its way to corporate baronhood from there, in any case known (or unknown, since many must be operating from sheer ignorance of geneology historically). Certainly, such trivia never gave any qualms to either governors nor presidents, when imposing the harshest sentencing standardly reserved for the persons least protected from it, by any legal means. Guess, ultimately, though, that adds to their charm, in certain echelons. Put to it, the family legacy is neither admirable, especially, nor embarrassing, particularly. It’s no more nor less “par” than the legacy of any other political/business family in USA-concept history, checkered as that’s been. No head of state executive has ever produced Justice, especially where Nonwhite & poor people have been concerned. Nor likely ever will. So viewed from that ground, you could sum the Bushes up as memorably ordinary, over the arc of history, since 1776, 1812, 1850, whatever you like. All 46 heads to date, structured & maintained Injustice in some similar manner, quietly or loudly & garishly, with only about 3 or 4 to date paying the ultimate price for “speaking” politically. Not hard to read, those Bushes. Uncomplicated people, really, though certainly not simple, nor even simple-minded, none of them. There was some unfathomable core of decency embodied in the family, despite political turmoil. And in the USA-concept, “decency” is usually a political liability, especially lately. Furthermore, who could forget the memorable “shoe-throwing incident” at W’s press-corps conference? A man’s got to be pretty quick on the uptake to dodge a hurling object without knocking the podium over! 😉😊 The Bushes also held aplomb, more often than not, taking it on the chin, I recall. They probably won most contests involving will without blinking of any state heads in the 20th century, which tends to comp for lack of skill, tact, poise in other sports. Can’t say as much, for instance, about that #45, nor his own progeny, however, though that one wasn’t/isn’t hard-to-read as a study in “politics” whatsoever. If that one must be welcomed “back,” I dearly hope I’ll be summering in Toronto or in Montreal by then. A long, long summer, far from that madding crowd of his. 🇨🇦 The Bush family, by and large, wouldn’t be likely turned-away from any gathering in the entirety. That was well written. Permisably, I had previously learned your additional knowledge. Perhaps not before you, I learned in 1992. I wasn't quite privy to the darkness and demanded The Family consequently select the President of the United States of America. Apparently so, We have never voted in any but an illusional sense. If anybody is embarrassed to join a party far beyond my own comprehension or morality would allow. My kind sir, as a Texan, We the People have been duped. Quite ashamed, I will reiterate.
