The song was originally written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley for the musical STOP THE WORLD - I WANT TO GET OFF. I believe the first recording of the song was by Anthony Newley, but Sammy Davis, Jr. also recorded the song in the same year and that's where it was popularized. Regine is called Asia's Songbird and Queen Regine because she is an amazing talent and has influenced practically tons of singers in the Philippines since she first gained popularity in the late 80s/early 90s. So many of the biggest artists in the Philippines today and from the last 20 years will say Regine is their idol.
