Ed is completely wrong about the robotaxi business using as few cars as possible. In fact standalone robotaxi companies would have to double or triple the vehicle output of legacy companies each year just to catch up. People offer the suggestion that you only need your car a few hours a day. That's true but EVERYBODY needs a car at those same few hours. So consumers aren't going to stop buying legacy autos themselves, until there are so, so, many robotaxis on the road that they have no concern about getting one for work and back home again. That scenario is decades and millions of fully autonomous vehicles away in the future.
