This tune was originally Scottish, called Cam Ye Oer Frae France, Tommy Potts created the Buttefly from it in the early 1960s. As to Keys, E dorian has the same chords as the key of D, but starts on the E and its associated chord E minor. The key of E minor has the same chords as the key of G in which case E minor is the sixth note of the scale. In E dorian, the corresponding sixth note chord would be B minor (as its is the 6th note on the D scale). As the chord pattern has Em-Bm-Em-Bm-C-D, then it has an E Dorian flavour, the Am-G-Am-G chord sequence is an A dorian version. BUT this tune, because Tommy Pots was a genius is amibguous , it wasn't built on chord patterns, The chord pattern here seems to be similar to that of the Breton jazz trad band Gwendel from the 1970s.

You wouldn't happen to know the name of the opening tune, would you? ...The first little tune before the video content actually begins?

The name of the tune is 'Hob Nobs' (named after the biscuit). My brothers Fionán and Cormac composed it. It is on Cormac's album Cormac de Barra Barcó

I think it would be interesting to have a post showing the differences between various jigs: a slip jig, double, single. Could any jig be expressed in each form and be recognizable as the same tune?

I,m sorry if I,m a little bit rude, but it riles me claim to have composed an air, which is muchmuch older than the claimees. These two guys are verv good musicians, but I have been playimg THE ,BUTTERFLY, since before they were born. It,s Not hob nobs or such a silly name, once again playing it before such stuff was ever thougt of. Possibly Scots, definitely Celtic. Borne on the air, like Port na Buca, and many other Gaelic Airs.🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐🤐 ,
