Which release are you shooting?

I shoot the uv hinge2 for target and switch to the uv button for hunting. I had my bow tuned for the hinge and when I got the button, I noticed my impact was to the left. Shot through paper and had an inch and a half tear. I’ve talked with other people shooting the same releases at Spokane valley archery. They had the same problem.

Make sure your hands shape and position are exactly the same between the 2 hinges. I think it was archery academy who has an awsome video on how to shoot both UV hinges and make them impact the same!

great honesty in the video! i usually start off shooting the button better, but then start anticipating the shot and start to drop. the hinge i am more consistent with, so I usually train with the hinge and hunt with my button.

Ultra view is becoming the KZbinr release of choice. Pretty soon there will be a combo starter pack on everyone’s channel. It’ll be a Hamskea rest, ultraview release and a pair of Crispi boots.

Perhaps it speaks even more strongly in favor of the Hinge that even on a day you consider bad that it performs better than other options. There's absolutely nothing to say that when you're out hunting that it will be your best day so you need what advantages you can get.

I'm shooting back and forth between a Nock2It thumb and 2Smooth hinge. I tend to find my groups are a little better with the hinge but my best shots (or at least better shots as I'm not that great!) are with the thumb. There's not too much inconsistency in impact point between the two but I do notice as I start to tire the shots from my thumb release drop a bit. I think that's because the hinge forces me to keep tension as I expand through the shot whereas I can slack off a little with the thumb release and still get a shot off. This results in me pushing less into heel of the grip causing my shot to drop off slightly. It's a bit hard to tell conclusively given different camera angles but I wonder whether you were doing the same? In that final end things turned around and you looked like you were pushing into the grip a bit stonger with the last 3 thumb release shots and the arrows moved back up to the center again.

Same problem I have, I’m not as accurate going back and forth like that. I do shoot the hinge better. My button tends to group an 1” or 2” lower then the hinge. Everyday all day.

It’s interesting that this test shows how on any given day things can go south. Is it in your mind because you ARE experimenting and maybe “ trying too hard” instead of a normal relaxed mindset? We’ve seen you have better results many times at 50. I use a hinge and button when getting in reps on the bale quite frequently because the hinge tends to slow me down a couple of seconds before it fires. Which really helps when using the button. Cool idea in making this video. Have to do it again and compare results of the different days.

You and me both. I shot the hinge religiously last year and had my bow sighted in for it until hunting season. Every thumb button release I used was hitting left so I moved it back and my hinge is sitting in a box with old releases at the moment lol

I have both and shoot both. My hinge will impact right but i think it has to do with my hand position. Its easier to get flatter to my jaw with the button than the hinge for some reason

I own multiple H2's and a Button...I can NOT get the same POI when shooting them side by side. I am left handed and my Button ALWAYS shoots right compared to my H2's and ALL my other hinges.

False Dichotomy. Get a Stan OnneX Resistance, shoot it as a 'Reverse Hinge' Firing Engine. 50 Yards ?? Some (MOST !!) would kill for the groups you were Poo Pooing. John ps. At least you got the Right Bow. 😉

If you hunt get strap release, those releases are for 3D target.

I hunt with a thumb button no problem. I do have paracord attached to it that goes around my wrist to. Not a fan of index releases
