@UCI0TMvwQZrKW4zLgHnAOmaw Yes ! I went out this evening and it was perfect. Theses are rare occasions where you can ride comfortably with a nice pace on a circular route or a training ride with an outward leg and a return leg on the same section of road. I was tempted to go for a flyer on the local Cragg vale loop tonight. Dusk is the best time but then when you get home your'e buzzing all night lol.

Another great video, i notice you ride between drop and what id call road style hybrids - whats you thinking and prefernace for how you deice which bike to take out ? Im looking to do LEJOG and torn between Giant Fast road which i own and enjoy or a drop handle such as the ribble cgr titanium. keen to understand your logic as to how you decide ?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Gareth, The Giant fast road looks like a pretty good hybrid and with a 105 groupset it's going to be well priced, durable and no doubt offer you some performance if the conditions are in your favour. The Ribble CGR looks like a dream bike in it's many guises and is built for touring and ultra long touring expeditions such as JOGLE / LEJOG. Hybrid bikes to me are the missing link for the MTB enthusiast and the road biker but I guess they are commuting bikes in the purest sense. I love my Whyte Sterling Hybrid and have done a lot of long rides and tours on it, I was surprised at how versatile it actually was and comfy too. I used it on LEJOG / JOGLE and the NC 500 mainly for reliability and practical reasons, It has a set of tough hope wheels and is a hydraulic disc braked bike. Even with a snapped spoke a disc rotor wheel will ride ok. It also had lugs for panniers and mud guards etc. Tyre choice is also a key factor and it will take 28mm's up to 34mm I think for the heavy road surfaces. As for my road bikes, I have a pure race / crit bike that has big gears for high speeds and a sportive bike for all day rides in the hills with a compact set up. It all comes down to the route plan and also the weather. My Hybrid will get a hammering in the winter months and early spring as my go to bike. Hope this helps and thanks for the comments Gareth,
@garethhughes6616

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures good way to look at it , do you find the hybrid a nicer position when you do those longer multi day rides as opposed to being bent over on the drops and i suppose sometimes missing the views.?
@MrDazP1adv3ntures
@MrDazP1adv3ntures 4 жыл бұрын
@@garethhughes6616 I love the Sportive bike for long rides. The position is dialled in and it will ride at a pretty good avge speed. The hybrid is comfy , don't get me wrong, but it's about 2 minutes slower every 10 miles . I've done 200 + mile rides on the Sportive and it was faultless . The trick is to ride on the hoods and get the bike fit correct, especially the stem length.

If there was an undulating valley section followed by a big climb and then a wicked descent with a long straight open road to finish on. It would split the pack wide open because some of the guys are basically too heavy to get over the hills like the slighter built ones. Some of the guys are very good descenders and some are good on the flat and holding wheels. I'm a bit of an all rounder. Lee is always fit and when Mike is fit he is formidable. Andy is a dark horse.... It's a tough one to call and out of respect to all the guys I'd say it would be close between most of the lads.
