My point about world war 2 is that civilians died on both sides and more Germans died than English, so does that mean the allies committed genocide because they were more powerful and they won? I worked with Debra messing for two seasons on a show she was in. I’ve worked on a lot of productions throughout the years with a lot of actors. She might be the worst one of all of them. That’s a very high bar, but she is an absolute nightmare of a human being.

Well besides the constantly being late, talking down to people, going out of her way to not learn anyone’s name, etc. Exactly what you think when you hear the word “Diva.” One particularly obnoxious thing that made evvvveryone hate her was one day at the end of a 14 hour shift her and her little team of green tea drinking, big sunglass wearing Brooklyn hipsters come onto the lot to do a walkthrough for all the reoccurring sets on the show. It’s basically a giant warehouse with like 15-20 sets in it. Characters apartments, reoccurring restaurants, work places etc. They come in at 7:45pm to walkthrough and see the sets. Us leaving at 8pm would have been the end of a 14 hour day on a Saturday. One right before we start shooting which are super hectic, and it’s really hard work. We’re all falling over. Probably been 75-80 hour week. They walkthrough and one of her little minions started to sneeze a bit. Mind you it’s a warehouse where a few months of construction has been happening so it could have been anything. She tells the exec producer that her assistant is allergic to down feathers and that every pillow from every bed, couch and otherwise from every set needed to have the down removed from them and put new stuffing in or else she wouldn’t be able to shoot. So on a Saturday night, after no one has seen their families in like a week or two she demands that we cut open every pillow, remove the down stuffing and restuff them with cotton. When we had a chance to leave that night at 8pm it kept us there until 12am, a couple dozen of us. We’d been there since 6am. She wouldn’t budge, started getting embarrassingly loud about it and making it seem like we worked for her. We did not. These are the same crews that did the sopranos, boardwalk empire, the blacklist, 30 rock, the Americans. We are professionals, we are respected for the work we do by most in that business. We are construction guys, not pillow guys. But the exec producer pleaded with us to not throw a wrench in the spokes right before shooting and he was always good to us so we helped him out and stayed and did it. One of our guys fell asleep behind the wheel on his way home and crashed his car. He almost died. There’s a story like that for every week for two years on that show, glad that it got canceled. It was so bad. No one I know will work with her ever again. Her shows get the bottom of the barrel, exactly what she deserves.

Its funny because I will say, I’m fully Syrian-Arab with no European ancestry (multiple ancestry tests confirmed) but I am somewhat pale and have brown hair and green eyes. There was one lady who put up a picture of a Palestinian girl who was white basically saying “how can she be oppressed” or whatever. BUT I know I’m indigenous to that area because my skin is shockingly resilient to sun. I went on vacation to Mexico with some friends once and everyone got burnt but me, yet we’re the same tone haha that was when I felt the most validated. There are multiple genes at play, and you may not have genes that make you dark all the time, but you have some that allow you to adapt. Up until the early 20th century, you would not have been considered white in America. Early Syrian immigrants had to fight for the right to be called white, not because they wanted to change their culture or anything but because whiteness is and always has been about access to things like land ownership and citizenship. European Jewish immigrants went through the same process. Of course, with whitness also comes an expectation that you uphold white privilege by discriminating against non-whites, and Israel is the most glaring example of people becoming white and then taking on the traits of their former white oppressors.

When I got tired of hearing about _"violence in the Middle East"_ on the news all the time, I decided to investigate the reason it never ended. Imagine my shock and disappointment that Israel is and has been the bad guys for decades. It's why I speak out so often against Israel now. My father helped them directly and I used to advocate for Israel - not anymore. Israel has only themselves to blame.

As someone who had a granduncle who liberated a Nazi concentration camp (Dachau) during World War 2, and as someone who lives in a country next door to said violence, I feel with you. I still get tired of hearing "violence in the Middle East" in the news, too. @@skontheroad Probably because AIPAC was influencing school content at the time because we weren't told some of the many others facts about Nazi Concentration Camps. Such as the fact that Russian nationals outnumbered Jews in them. Russia was after all, the country that did the most to defeat the Nazis but because Stalin and Hitler had signed a Peace Treaty before Hitler invaded Russia, Russians were unprotected by the Geneva Convention agreements. Jews in other words, weren't unique in their suffering and I don't know any Russians that live in a Welfare State, courtesy of USA Taxpayers but Jews in Israel do.

How I wish European Jews had been allowed to emigrate to the US after the war. We could easily have absorbed the population, and there are probably more Jews in America now than in Israel anyway. The creation of Israel was driven by a mixture of guilt and desperation, but somehow the Palestinians have been forced to pay, and pay in perpetuity, for what was an entirely European crime. The creation of Israel has not, in the end, been very good for the US, or for diaspora Jews, who will always be identified with Israel-whether they like it or not. The creation of Israel wrecked our standing in the Middle East and laid the groundwork for much of the region’s problems. The creation of Israel was good for Israelis, and bad for everyone else. Only a matter of time before diaspora Jews wake up to that painful reality.
