The lead singing in the middle "Robert Lewis" is my father in law living in Elgin Illinois !!! Amazing Human being !!! I'm honored to know him and spend time with his family especially on the Holidays !!!

Yeah, Larry Brownlee died with a intruder. Someone broke into his home and shot him to death at 37 years old. Carl Washington is the one on the right of middle Larry. Other one is Robert Lewis. Carl died in 2008 due to natural causes. Robert idk.

January covid-19 2020, Chicago Good job fellas! I believe The C.O.Ds. are from Chicago. Locally "Michael the lover" was a hit. It's lyrics were real catchy, teen-clever. It had a nice snappy Groove too. I can reminisce back to the summer of my youth 1965. I just started Waller High School as a freshman. Man! if your name was Michael that was automatic with the girls checkin' you out. The song was your introduction calling-card without saying the word. I could sing the song Good but, My name just didn't work in place of Michael.

They are and all of them are now passed sadly. Poor Larry got shot and robbed in 1978 in his own home in his mid 30s. Robert died in 2008. Carl just vanished without a trace.

I'm the youngest in a family at that time which consistent of six somewhat rambunctious children. So you can somewhat understand my plight. We are a loving family but as all families large and small sometimes do we tease and rub each other the wrong way at times. When this record came out I was probably 4 or 5 years old. And my oldest brother especially but all of them partook in it from time to time. Would sing this song, Michael the lover, Michael the lover until I would start crying and tell them I'm not no lover, ha, hahaha, hahaha. I had no idea what a lover was at the time but my youthful sensibility told me that I wasn't one, ha, hahaha, hahaha. Since then you can somewhat reasonably deduced that I have revised my opinion on the matter exponentially since 1965. And I now consider myself as the song describes as a full-fledged lover before me there was no other other, ha, hahaha hahaha.

this was the first record I bought in 1965 at 11 years old as soon as I heard it on the radio. I was listening to KDIA IN OAKLAND when it was played. then I ran to the record store and bought it. The COD'S sound very good. see that's that street corner harmony singing for the girls and don't forget PASS THE WINE. Those street corner groups could out sing any group today. the reason why I said that IF YOU COULDN'T SING THE PUBLIC WOULD LET YOU KNOW YOU SUCK. But if you were down here comes the tips. I know for sure cause my best friends brother was in a DOO WOP GROUP. I was like 10 or 11 when I was mesmerized by their singing ability. so I became the official WINE RETRIEVER. In those days the stores never I.D. YOU AT ALL. So since they were making some money they didn't want to stop and go to the store for wine. So they sent me. And instead of me getting paid, or drinking some of the wine, all I got was a front row seat and my second job was to collect the girls phone numbers that they would get. 10 years old and I was getting robbed everyday. I didn't even get one of the girls. A girl tried to give me some play, but I told her I hate girls. She told me in a few years you will know what to do with a girl and believe me YOU AIN'T NEVER GOING TO HATE GIRLS EVER AGAIN. SHE WAS RIGHT. At age 14 I started chasing women and have been on a serious mission for 48 years.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😉😂😂😉😉😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Oran Payne hey I wanted to ask you a question cause you got some fine taste in music. Do you know the track walking up the one way street by willie tee and the track teasing you and thank you jhon by willie tee. I want to ask you how massive were those hits, those tracks in the states at the time. My dad a soul music connoisseur and record collector and used to go record searching in record crates as a young teenager in deep snow and blistering cold in the late sixties for hidden soul gems in London in the west end. I wanted to ask you about those soul hits of the mid sixties and the vibe at that time. Do you know the track the entertainer as well by Tony Clarke. The soul singers were slick back then ,had style, and were real talented . there was no digital studio gimmicks back then as they are now that are manipulated to make singers sound better than what they actually and naturally are. The youth culture influences how the kids dressed in thoes times my dad was a slick dresser and liked to wear suits and looking at these videos of the impressions and the temptations I get a liitle glimpse to what was going on.my dad Michael was a a very young teenager around this time I wish I could ask him about those times as a teenager and if he knew of this track ,as Michael my dads name the name of this track.i wish I could ask my dad about this track. It's been one year and a half since man and its deeply painful and it doesn't get any easier as the days transpire . Take care . Take care
