@@TheRalphRoast so here is my update. Buying the vehicle unseen and going off of pics/video. I questioned the temp at roughly 240 degrees. Dealer called me the next day to advise of blown head gasket and they would not sell. No luck in finding another at a decent price like this ($18k, 61k miles, out of fort worth area). Still looking.

I bought a used 2002 Z06 with 59k miles back around 2010 for $17k and commuted 35 miles on a winding mountain road, it was definitely the best part of my day! I averaged 20 ~ 21 mpg and saw as high as 33 mpg on a flat freeway, simply amazing for a 405hp car that was also super reliable. Five years later I sold it with 109k miles for $15k, I can't imagine how you could have more fun for $400/year!

My 2004 C5 Z06 Commemorative is a keeper. I bought it new. Great car. Wouldn't and haven't changed a thing. Pure factory. If you ever stood behind my car while it's on the "dyno" doing 6000 RPM, you'd understand why I wouldn't change a thing. 171+MPH and 28 MPG when driven "kindly". 130,000 miles on it now and it runs like new and doesn't leak a drop. LS6 is an amazing engine. 425 Hp on engine dyno. OH, and still has the original clutch! I owned a few big block Mopars back in the day. I don't run the piss out of my Vette. I also bought a 1996 C4 new. Loved it tooo. P.S. My ex wife is waiting to take delivery on a 2022 Z51 with a major list of options +. She's a finance manager at a Chevy dealer. Thank you for mentioning the 50th Anniversary badge on the hood and trunk of all 2003s. I have a convertible that not one but TWO "know it alls" accused me of putting on to fake that it is a limited edition or something special. (Aren't all Corvettes something special?) Oh, one stat that may be significant is that there were MORE convertibles built in 2003 than there were hardtops. Ideally I attribute this to the earlier years of the C5 proving how well this car handles the wind when driving. ALL convertibles will have air buffeting/roiling over the windshield, but the C5's low drag coefficient due to the shape of the back of the passenger compartment (rounded behind the seats) along with the air being forced into a "tunnel" (you have to watch wind tunnel videos) that is created by the rear quarters rounded at the height and angle they are proved that at highway speeds the car is still comfortable and 'won't rip your hat off'. If you wish to take the convertible into the 150mph+ range, you will probably want to leave the top down but put the side windows up. Admittedly, the buffeting at this point is strong and loud but still better than any other car or motorcycle I've ever run. Oh! There is one other change of note: In 2001 Chevy began putting the LS6 intake on the LS1 engine for a net gain of 5HP and 1-2mpg(depending on your driving). But if you have a pre-01 C5, look into the LS6 intake upgrade. It's probably the first upgrade I would do as it will remain compatible through all motor mods short of a blower.
