ESCO 3 Ton Performance Shorty Low Profile Jack Stands (1 Pair): amzn.to/3ONvRmK or amzn.to/3T5xrmo

Hi Team DIY Now. Great video. I just got a pair of jack stands just like your Escos and wondering if I should put pinch weld adapters on before I sit the car down on the jacks or would it be ok to sit the pinch welds directly on the saddles of the jack stands? I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla LE .Thanks for your input.

Glad you liked it! It really just depends on how the pinch weld sits on your jack stands in relation to the body moldings on the side. In most cases as long as your jack stand will clear the moldings it should be able to support the weight. If your not going to clear the molding then add the pinch weld adapter. Slowly lower the car down and monitor the jack stand/pinch weld, as long as you're not at an angle (will notice pinch weld collapse one way or the other) you should be good with either the pinch weld adapter or the jack stand. Hope this helps.

Yes, your advice does help. Thanks for taking the time to write me back. I will monitor to make sure the jack stands don’t come into contact with molding. I was picturing that pinch weld adapter being able to slide off that jack stand pad because it’s just slick aluminum on the bottom. Maybe the weight of the car will keep that from being an issue. I wish you the best of luck with your channel. Billy

@@ideasawait376No problem glad I was able to help. You're correct, the weight should help keep it in place. Thanks appreciate it!

I’m about to buy the esco jacks for my Camaro, is it safe to use the adapter with the esco jack stand to hold it for a long period of time. I pretty much see everywhere that people use the adapter on the floor jack but haven’t really seen occasions of using it for the jack stand

I'm sure they will be ok. I just used 2 of the Esco jacks with a different pinch weld adapter (similar to my ZL1 one) to hold up a Chrysler Town & Country for a week while I changed the transmission.

@ ok sounds good thanks for the reply. I’m also realizing that the slit in the jack may not even require an adapter but I’ll see once I get it. Have a good Sunday 👍🏼

What about pinch weld jack points resting on the esco rubber pad? Wouldn’t that ruin the pinch weld?
@TeamDIYNow6 ай бұрын
On some vehicles it will be fine and others you risk the pinch weld bending and/or damaging the rocker panel. There are certain vehicles that you are forced to jack up the vehicle on the pinch weld as there are no other points. Even the car shops using 2 post lifts on occasion will jack a car up on all 4 pinch weld points with a similar rubber pad on the arms as the Esco jacks (amzn.to/4eJKfry). The difference is the 2-post lift evenly distributes the weight on all 4-points vs using a jack stand at home you are putting most of the weight on that one jack point. You can try it but do it slowly and make sure the pinch weld is not collapsing on its side. Also, sometimes you can put a 2x4 or something on top to distribute the weight a little more on the pinch weld or right next to it (need to be careful tho as it can be dangerous). Good luck, be careful.

They make rubber pinch weld adapters for jack stands sold on Amazon. How come you don't have one or show one?
@TeamDIYNow5 ай бұрын
I did briefly show one at 4:19, however they would not be my first choice. The reason is sometimes they have the tendency to damage or bend the pinch weld because a regular jack stand contact point is narrow which increases chances of damage to the pinch weld (especially on older cars with rust). The wider the contact surface is on the jack stand the better as it will distribute the weight across the pinch weld which decreases the chance of damage.

is the pinch weld supposed to sit on the bottom of the adapter? or better question, does the depth of the pinch weld adapter matter?
@TeamDIYNow5 ай бұрын
With a perfect fit, the pinch weld adapter is going to sit flush with the frame and pinch weld just like an included car jack does. With that said, on some vehicles it's hard to find a perfect fit as a lot are universal fit. Either way is fine, just be careful if you have one that is only touching the pinch weld that its not also bending your pinch weld as you jack the vehicle up.

OK video. Thanks for not using hiphop tunes. Should cut time in 1/2 and started with pinch weld adapters.

Hi , but if there are rust on those indicated lifting area by the Car manufacturers then jacking it on those Specific area would be very dangerous by using the Adapters .
@TeamDIYNow4 ай бұрын
You're correct, if extremely rusty you need to proceed with caution. With that said a lot of times it's just a surface rust and its fine. What I do when in question, grip the pinch weld and feel for any soft spots or movement (you can tell real quick if not safe as it doesn't feel solid). If feels firm then slowly jack up and watch the weld...if it's bad you will see movement and/or loud cracking noises which is telling you to stop. Unfortunately, some of these newer cars we are starting to see less and less points to jack up which makes these pinch welds sometimes the only option. Either way your right tho you need to be careful.
