Well, I don't know about that. Where I grew up (Auburn, California) was named Auburn because of "Au" is the element name for gold and burn is, I guess they would melt it. Cities like Los Angeles have a different history. This gold Rush coincides with northern California cities, such as San Francisco.

There is a mistake in the vid. In the beginning, you show a boat going through the Panama Canal, but the Panama Canal was not completed until 1914. Construction didn't even start until 1899

Potato Pal you have a very keen eye. But there is an explanation for this. The ships would sail to panama, then the people heading to California would cross panama, then sail from panama's west coast to America.

Many were never heard of again, as they were murdered by their colleagues, for their gold, some were thrown over board & drowned, it was unsafe, my Granduncle Andrew was one of these unfortunate men,who returned to Ireland many times, had made some money ,then no more letters & no trace found...he was never heard from again & broke his parents & siblings hearts, may he RIP x

I traveled back to 1851 and tried this. It didn't work. In fact, I was chased through Miller's town and almost got shot. Luckily I wasn't too far from the time portal in Idaleto's cave. It wasn't worth the trouble.

This Gold Rush led to Australia in 1851, the rush for gold. It was a time that transformed Australia. E.g. 1851 NSW goldrush,1852-3 Victorian goldrush which then led to thanks to mining licence fees, the Eureka stockade.
