Actually, in the lore Ornn hasn't forge a weapon for hundreds years, so it's very important, that he finally did it.

@@lastlaugh5178 I know buck all about LoL, but damn if the visuals aren't insane. And I'm all for that at the very least. It's the same with the Astartes series, so many people watched it because it's visually amazing, even if they don't know what the hell Warhammer is. And who knows, for some seeing it may unlock the urge to dive deeper into the franchise :).

The guy making a sword is Ornn also known as the Forge God or the Fire Under the Mountain a demigod of the Frejlord and that fact he is forging a weapon is huge since according to the lore of League of Legends he has not forged a weapon in thousands of years, not since the formation of Runeterra

Others have mentioned it but the guy making the sword is basically the league version of a god, but he has taken a sort of vow of non violence and hasn't forged an actual weapon in hundreds of years, so him forging a sword is a really big deal.

as the next one to watch I strongly recommend "Bel'veth - all that will ever be". This is not a season cinematic and therefore does not come with a song but is the introduction cinematic of a newer champion called Bel'Veth. She is a void creature just like Rek'Sai you just saw in the cinematic chasing Kai'sa down the hole. The Bel'Veth cinematic is kind of a continuation from the void story part of "The Call" [the Call has 3 storiy lines: the icy Freljord where Sejuani and Olaf invade'(in pursue of Orn's treasure) fight the bear creatures called Ursine that whorship the bear god of thunder Volibear, the Mount Targon where panthon is fighting Leona, the aspect of the sun and the desert story with the void creatures - and the blacksmith Orn is a god too and the brother of volibear- he forges a legenbdary weapon after 10 years again to prepare for the upcoming war]. Apart from that, you might also be interested in the currently ongoing "star guardian" event that comes with various smaller cinematics ((star guardian parallel universe) and an anime styled music video called "everything goes on" by Porter Robinson.

The red wookie is Ornn, God of the Forge. The few scenes where he is making a sword is significant because Ornn hasn't forged a weapons in over a thousand years. The making of a weapon is a sign that war is coming. The ice place is Freljord. The lady on the boar (Bristle) is Sejuani. She is leading her small group of warriors (including Olaf, the dude who head butt the ice) against the Ursine (the polar bear dudes). Sejuani is part of a much larger group, but they are scattered into many smaller groups to make survival easier (less mouths to feed logic). The Ursine are followers of a god named Volibear (The bear in the clouds). The Ursine are men who can transform into bears and use lightning because they worship Volibear. They stole a cauldron from Ornn that allows any mortal to go a year without food if they drink from it. (Ornn and Volibear are brothers, but they don't like eachother). The Ursine stole the cauldron because Volibear believes it makes men weak. (Man needs to be fighting constantly to stay strong logic). The desert area is a region of Shurima. Taliyah (the earthbending lady) and Kai'sa (purple girl) have teamed up recently to fight the Xer'sai (small(er) tunneling monsters from the Void). The Xer'sai are children of the big creature, Rek'sai. In the end, Kai'sa sacrifices herself (not in a dying way but like a freedom way) by leading Rek'sai back to the void while Taliyah seals the tunnel. Taliyah is all about protecting people and Kai'sa is all about fighting void monsters. Kai'sa's suit is actually a living creature that created a symbiotic relationship with Kai'sa (think venom). Kai'sa was a normal human girl, but she got trapped in the void at a young age and had to fight for survival while miraculously keeping her hair, skin, and makeup beautiful. The spartan is Pantheon but also has the human name Atreus. (I'm a bit iffy on this side of the lore). Pantheon is a man that was possessed/gained the power of the aspect of war, but the aspect of war died and gave Pantheon his humanity back (or something like that). He is climbing Mount Targon which is like a magical mountain that the celestials and aspects (basically gods) reside. Few mortals are able to reach the top of Mount Targon. Those that do are granted great power. (Reason pantheon god the power of the aspect of war.) The men he encounters by the portal are the solari. They are men who worship the sun. Pantheon drives his spear into the ground because he does not have any quarrel with humans. Pantheon hates the celestials and aspects which is why he is ascending the mountain to fight them. He beats the shit out of the men, but he doesn't kill them because his fight is with the aspects. The gold lady, Leona appears from the portal to fight Pantheon. (The look he gives her is him being glad he's finally found the opponent he's been looking for). Leona is the aspect of the sun and leader of the solari. During the fight, Pantheon is blasted by a giant laser, which is theorized to be a falling star from a being named Aurelion Sol. He is a giant space that created the universe and likely the final boss opponent for Pantheon. The final bit of Pantheon's part of the video, he is using his god powers to jump back to the top of the mountain which is his ultimate in the game where he can jump halfway across the map and come crashing down on his enemies. If there is anything I missed or got wrong I'm sure there will be replies correcting me.

There is a deeper part of the lore of those characters, but you pretty much nailed what is needed to understand the cinematic ;) Only when it comes to Pantheon i want to add something. Atreus was trained to be a warrior from the young age (sparta etc. ;p), but he was not very strong, he was basically losing every fight, but he was very persistent and his will was unbreakable, so no matter how badly wounded he was he always stood up. There was an invasion on Targon and Atreus'es squad was slaughtered by the invaders, only Atreus and his best friend - Pylas survived, the aspect of sun refused to help (i'm not sure if it was Leona or the previous aspect, but nevertheless it's personal to Atreus ;p) so Atreus and Pylas swore to climb up the mountain and gain the power of gods themselves to protect people, it's really hard task and Pylas died along the way, but Pantheon has reached the top and gained the power of the aspect of war - Pantheon, but Pantheon though that Atreus was unworthy of this power (he was losing all his life) so he has taken over his body, from then it was Pantheon controlling Atreus'es body, Atreus could see some on the actions of Pantheon who didn't care about mortals lives. In the battle between Pantheon and Aatrox there were many casualties (this is when real hate toward immortal powerful beings has developed in Atreus), Pantheon lost that battle and died, the aspect was dead, even stars of his constalation faded, but the body of Atreus didn't die and his consciousness was back, he was badly hurt and Aatrox left him to die, but as always Atreus survived. He was cured by the wife of Pylas, but for the first time in life he lost faith, he felt helplessness, he knew that mortals are just pawns in the game of gods, but the invaders (the same who killed the squad of Atreus) came back and Pantheon took his weapon (after lecture from Pylas'es wife ;p) but when he arrived he saw Aatrox killing the invaders, he jump between them to protect the mortals although it were his enemies. His unbreakable will kicked in again and it ignited his weapons with the power of aspect (the new star even lighted up) and he has defeated Aatrox. From then he swore to slay all gods, aspects, demons and all super powerful beings, he started to refer to himself as Pantheon for some reasons (propably so character in the game can have this name xD). He started his mission from climbing on mount Targon and this is what we see in this video. As you said it is theorized that the beam was the power of Aurelion Sol and because of that he fully embraced the power of aspect becoming the brand new aspect of war by himself thanks to his will ;p
