In Canada’s North, Canadian Rangers teach NATO troops how to survive in extreme cold weather.
Master Corporal Dinos Tikivik of the 1st Canadian Ranger Patrol Group explains the mind-set needed to survive in the High Arctic.
Canada’s Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT 2019 took place in northern Canada between 17 March and 1 April 2019. Around 500 personnel tested their Arctic survival skills and logistics including long-range patrols, ice diving and creating landing strips on the sea ice.
Five NATO Allies - Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and the United States - are Arctic states, and Allies regularly work to improve their ability to operate in cold weather.

I hear about the Canadian Rangers here in the UK. I have huge respect for them. Their skills and knowledge. (Were still using Lee Enfield rifles til recently if I am thinking of the same organisation. The rifles put up with the cold well. Better than the modern replacements some may say :)

Meanwhile they use a Tikk T3, not the good old Enfields any more.

Berthold Bach Yes. I heard Tikk T3 are good rifles but rumours say they don’t deal with condensation + freezing as well as the old rifles. Scenarios like being in warm vehicle or indoors being exposed to moisture then going outdoors and freezing. This same scenario causes same problems for man made fabrics and fur still performs better in that regard.

Nick Thorp bit of belated comment I know, but yeah they're pretty good .. kind of frontline forces like , up in the Arctic .. know the ground , how to live off the land..pretty durn good . glad theyre ours , and Nato 🙂 ..and yes the Lee Enfields they used were apparently still pretty good too ..

@@mikeneufield5499 they are not frontline forces they are non combatants used as trainers for southern based troops and the eyes and ears of the north during peacetime. They also do SAR ops.

My father is a Canadian ranger, 8 years ago I was junior Canadian ranger. Should apply to become a canadian ranger

They should do a similar program in Australia because it’s so vast use local knowledge to protect its borders
