The CANCELLED Pokemon RPG for Nintendo 64

Cancelled Pokemon games. It's not often we hear about them but there certainly is a lot of them. Today we talk about Pocket Monsters 64, the Pokemon game that was in development for the Nintendo 64DD, a game that was originally supposed to be the first 3D Home Console Pokemon RPG before it was cancelled prior to Space World 1997!
For the record the box art I use to represent Pocket Monsters 64 in this video is not real and was made by me, simply as a way for me to have something to represent the game as no screenshots of it were ever shown off to the public.

Pokemon 64 should have been finished it's definitely what fans would have wanted. Even if it was a one off short pokemon game. They didn't even have to make it as in depth and red n blue but they should have made it. I hope a fan creates it one day and makes it work for the n64 hardware but all I can do is hope and dream.

I still remember getting Pokemon stadium at release, seeing all the 3D assets thinking " surely all future mainline titles will be released on N64..." how naive I was. Then they released Gold and Silver on the gameboy and I was soooo disappointed, killed my interest in the franchise for years. And I was like 9 at the time, probably my first massive gaming-disappointment/reality check.

Super Mario 64 2 was developed long after the N64DD was dropped. Actually, it was until the Wii Era!

The N64DD should've either been bundled with the console itself at launch. Or, the N64 should've been a Zip Disk media console to begin with(maybe even add in SNES backwards compatbility); only double the storage data from 64MGBytes to 128MGBytes! Even manufacturing two 128MGByte Zip disks would've been cheaper than an 8MGByte cartridge; even at the time! If load times were a concern, they should've ever so slightly increased the RAM from 4 MGBytes to 6MGBytes(then making a 6MGBytes RAM expansion Pak doubling it to 12MGBytes), and increase the CPU clock speed ever so slightly from 93MH to 100MH!
