Even if Six Flags Dubailand was to hypothetically happen, I doubt Six Flags would have invested the same amount of quality into their other parks. Their last hope is Six Flags Saudi Arabia, outside of that they are focused on North American expansion.
@rashedalshehhi4 жыл бұрын
I think Six Flags in suadi will gone happen because they really need a good theme park there, most if not all parks in saudi consist of flat rides with no theming
@scottedward30304 жыл бұрын
Six Flags arent the full owners of these concept parks (think Tokyo Disney Resort), that's why the art looks so great.
@rashedalshehhi4 жыл бұрын
The park did not open because all parks in the UAE weather they are indoor or outdoor only get full when tourist arrive, we the locals dont go to park as often as western people do, thats why even motiongate, img, and legoland are often empty causing big losses in revenue.

Superb video! The joy and excitement of seeing into the designers' big dreams is rivaled by the painful wist of knowing the ultimate fate of those dreams. Some of those land themes sounded incredible (even if the names were doofy).

Dubai needs to give up on their theme park obsession. They're yet to build a single theme park which turns a profit
@wavelength38564 жыл бұрын
Interesting thought. Destination-class theme parks need millions of people coming through the front gates each year to turn a profit. Disney and Universal have shown that's feasible. You need millions of people each year to believe that Dubai is a good, safe, fun, family-friendly place to go, and that it's within their affordability range. I think the perception of Dubai is probably more along the lines of strange-but-exciting, luxurious, edgy, adult, and mindbogglingly expensive - the James Bond to Orlando's Mickey Mouse. It's hard, then, to get millions of tourists flocking to the area that are also the type of people who would visit a Disney/Universal/Six Flags-style theme park. I believe the larger "Dubai World" that we saw in last month's video would have likely changed the entire perception of the world, but with that grandiose plan just a distant memory... Dubai either needs to give up on its theme park dreams, or needs to focus on becoming a more "accessible" and friendly, inclusive destination for commerce and tourism (Tokyo might be a good model). As cool as I think it would be to visit, they're trying to be too many things at once.
@Codraroll4 жыл бұрын
@@wavelength3856: I think you hit Dubai's tourism problem right on the head of the nail. It's luxurious and expensive, which isn't really compatible with mass tourism. It's as if everything is built for millionaires. It's seen as "Exclusive", which is a nice buzzword that evokes a feeling of luxury, but one has to consider the literal meaning of the word too: "Not accessible to most people". Yet the investment pitches are always assuming there will be millions of customers. At some point, somebody must have asked "Are there really that many rich people who'd like to go to Dubai all the time out there?" and at that point it became clear that the Dubai dream needed a serious reality check. A bunch of supertall skyscrapers full of luxury apartments has had to be scrapped. Nobody built anything on the World islands or Palm Jebel Ali. Famously, most of the theme park projects crashed (Six Flags even managed to do it twice). The Dubai Canal was never extended. That tallest-in-the-world observation tower probably won't happen. Dubai Zoo ended up as an animal tragedy. Dubai is littered with the half-built and abandoned ruins of megaprojects that only made financial sense under the assumption that millions of millionaires would come to Dubai and spend all their money, and that growth would be easy and infinite. It's still an impressive city, but it created way more hype than it was able to deliver on.

Dubai is trying so hard to out do everyone, everything and even though they have tons of money, they just cant get the theme parks right. the parks that they have now are ghost towns. they want to be the worlds number one tourist destination and they cant even draw theme park attendance. a few years ago when DUBAILAND was announced, they said it would be 10 times the size of walt disney world. i knew they were drunk. WDW is 28,000 acres. thats the size of san francisco. disney has nothing to worry about. disney parks take years to plan and develop where as with dubai, they throw up a few in door attractions and call it a day.

Dubai bubble burst lonng ago. it's almost like a repeat of the "Disney effect" First few parks went belly up. Ironically (that "little" Texas park) gave 'em a RIDE like no other. Til' they decided to do 6 flags over "everywhere" LOL! I have 2 complaints. It didn't get built & all the recycled ride names. Big ?mark Even IF they pulled it off with no budget cuts & all concept art made it to reality. Would it have pulled in the # of ppl. to make $$$$??? We will never know. I totally would have gotten a passport to visit this Six Flags!
