We need to go back to making a few goofy movies with ensembled casts from various generations and professions (acting, music, sports, etc.). Cannonball Run seems like the type of movie they should remake every 5-10 years in that spirit. Similar to how the style of "James Bond" movies change over time, it would be fun to see different generations' take on the same corny "illegal car race" premise.

...until you sit inside one. Only people under 6'2" can sit in it without hitting their head on the roof, there is no seat adjustment, only feet under a size 10 can operate the pedals without hitting two at once, you can't see out of the back window, the door windows only open enough to flick ash from a cigarette, all the interior is made of vinyl-covered right-angled boxes, and the throttle and clutch both take a huge effort to depress. But yes, it LOOKS and SOUNDS amazing.

I got to ride in this car. It was bought many years later from the studio and a friend of mine restored it. It had been painted several times, different colors for other movies. VERY loud and soooo cool. The owner passed away, so I don’t know where the car ended up.

Jackie didn't have the best time on that one, which is why he didn't work with Hollywood again until Rumble in the Bronx. He does say that this movie gave him the idea to put his bloopers in during the credits.

Every time I see this scene I get giddy like a little schoolboy cause I never would have thought that 1 day I was walking in Daytona Beach with my parents and all of a sudden we came across the Marriott hotel and there was this black Lamborghini countache I pressed my face up to the window and I hear Hey kid you wanna sit in it I said yes please turns out that was ron rice and that was this car what made it cooler there was no crowd hovering around it was just sitting in the valet section and ron was just hanging out.

This came on tv at 8pm in the UK when I was about 9 yrs old (1987) Begged to stay up to.watch the film but got sent to bed half way through. Had the VHS at school about 3 years later, must have watched the it 10 times. Greatest bad movie ever!!

Love the opening to this movie. That police Firebird card was pretty damn awesome as well for a pursuit car. Love the helicopter pan out scene. I am pretty sure these were stunt drivers driving the car not the 2 supermodel chicks. The Countach is one of the coolest cars ever made although probably a nightmare to own and maintain. The 2nd film had all the basic capri police cars no way in hell would they be able to catchup to that Countach.

They should show this film in film school about how to make an exciting fun movie forget all the diversity equal rights bullshit rainbows and unicorns and focus the movie on having a good time with interesting characters. The cars are the star of the film we want to see A list actors just going for broke not that hard. But there always has to be some message or agenda instead of just a basic plot with some laughs.

Our 73 Grand Prix with a 455SD only got 8 MPG if you drove it 'spirited'.... 12 MPG if you drove it like an old lady. Put your foot into it and it was well under 4. Biggest problem was you couldn't stop the thing, the brake fluid would start to boil and the pedal went straight to the floor until they cooled off if you got that ol gal up to speed. Scared the crap out of me, blew 2 stop signs a mile apart before I got it slowed back down. Didn't do that again! Pretty sure the Lambo had the brakes for it, but you surely wouldn't want to daily drive one. I had a red Lambo slot car (HO), one of my favorites of all time!
