That's a pretty cool little camera. I didn't look up the model, but I'd estimate it to be from around 2003-2006. The video jack is most likely just to hook it up a tv/monitor to view your pictures on a larger screen. Earlier digital cameras like this didn't record videos. That capability didn't come out until much later, and until then you had to have a dedicated video camera. Some of the digital cameras from the early 2000's actually took better pictures than the cameras now. New digital cameras tend to have problems with the color balance - I always end up having to edit pictures on a computer and adjust the colors. I actually prefer using film for photography :) but digital can come in handy.

this camera's really hard to find! I love how nostalgic the photos look and want one but the only one I can find is $200 from japan.

My very first digital camera! Shoots 1280x960 1.3 Megapixels photos. I kinda doubt it will recognize the modern 2.0GB Compactflash-card you have there, but when you get that custom battery, I guess we will see a follow up video! It will let you shoot in RAW mode, I think. No video, that's right. The files are small, so you can store plenty of photos on a 8MB card, lol. You can find more specs here www.dpreview.com/products/canon/compacts/canon_a50 - enjoy!
