I love this card trick. I have also come up with a different way to select a card which helps prevent someone from selecting too deep into the spread and picking a card outside of the suited block of cards. I have them select a number between 1 and 52 and then I say something to the effect of "in case you think I may have influenced you to pick a specific number, I want you to add the two digits together to come up with a new number" and then count down to that card which will be within the suited block regardless of what number they chose (49 comes out to 13 which would be the king) and pull that card out. If they picked a number from 1 to 9, then simply count to that card. This method works well if performing this in a virtual environment such as zoom.

It's a wonderful story but I cannot believe, for one second, that Blaine was fooled by a trick that employs an obvious suit force (at the very beginning). Blaine uses far more complex card forces on a daily basis. Sorry to burst the bubble everyone!
@stolenname943 жыл бұрын
Perhaps... but sometimes it's the most obvious things that we miss that hide the biggest secrets. Have you ever seen a trick that had you guessing for hours and you think it's complex??? Then you buy the trick or gimmick etc etc and its litterly the most obvious gimmick in the world and not complicated? Then you wonder why it costs 60 quid for a bungee chord, some wax and a guitar pick with a mowhawk ( the gecko!! I was dumb to think it would be anything but what it was 🤷 it was that simple yet I was fooled) it's insane. What's worse is I made my own variation of the same gimmick that was much much faster and didn't have any noise or evidence of a gimmick. Anyways, my point is anyone can be fooled these days.
@chumpincustardchops83433 жыл бұрын
@@stolenname94 The difference is that you're talking about a gimmick whereas this trick uses a well-known mechanic of card manipulation. There is a 0 statistical chance that Blaine does not know it. The title is click-bait. Don't be so easily fooled. ;)
@camaradamanuel50252 жыл бұрын
I thought the exact same thing. Hell, I'd even go as far as to say Blaine already knew this effect back in the 2000s.
@akmadsen2 жыл бұрын
Not only the suit force (which was pretty obvious, even to my untrained eyes), but also the flipping of the deck in between the shuffles. It was pretty obvious that card orientation was key. But hey, maybe the execution here was different from what fooled Blaine? I agree with you though, I find it difficult to believe that Blaine couldn't see the method behind this effect.

Awesome! I added a little twist near the end. At 4:53 I spread out the cards, some are face up, others face down, but NO heart cards are visible. Don't linger or they may notice the missing hearts. Then add a little chit chat patter to the crowd while you THEN casually turn over the deck. Now spread 'em out and ALL cards are face down except the Hearts.

It is great to have magic tricks explained in a qualitative video. Thanks ! The 'problem' here is that I remarked at the beginning that there was no Heart card among those showed (to prove all are different), then that few were proposed to get chosen. So... Always keep apart the 12 Hearts cards, the up/down orientation to insert Hearts when shuffling, and it's OK. Much more easy to say but with practice, the effect to audience is indeed amazing !

SOME PRO TIPS: 1) For the first two shuffles, start and end with the packet on your left. On the last shuffle, start and end with the packet on your right. That way every time you flip the cards they see face up going into face down. 2) Michael Ammar performs this as if he's made a mistake and forgot to have the spectator return their card to the deck. He then uses the "process of elimination" to find their card instead. 3) I prefer to not have the cards in order for the final reveal. I think it makes the shuffling feel more fair.

As someone who just watches KZbin magicians, I immediately suspected a stacked top stock when he spread the cards. Also it was a little too obvious that only the top stack was the only stack inserted during shuffling. If someone showed me this trick I would think it’s awesome, and be delighted, but it wouldn’t be very mystifying, especially to a professional magician. Also, I wouldn’t expect a magician to say “show me the whole deck” or heckle, most professional magicians who see tricks they understand respectfully watch, and admire their cardistry, sleight of hand, or presentation.

@Wodawic9 ай бұрын
To make it a little more transparent, and avoid the obvious stacking setup, use a stripper deck and turn all the hearts into the reverse position for easy separation from the remaining suits. Then you won't have to stack them all on the top, just carefully do the 'dorky shuffle' and 'strip shuffle' them all to the top, without the faces flashing. they may not be in order, but you'll be a little more clean. This way, you can show the complete deck all mixed at the beginning of the presesntation without having to hide the 'stacked' section. Just make sure the dork/strip shuffle is your last move before the swing cut and selection. OR you could 'selectively' strip out all the hearts like you're just randomly selecting a pile for them to select their card from, which you'd do by hand, then toss that suit-matching pack on the top, and you're in position.
