I feel like being a Cardigans fan is like a secret club these days. Few people remember them and their genius as musicians and songwriters. I've been playing "Long Gone Before Daylight" on loop lately, it's just SO GREAT. Such a deep and accomplished album. This one too. They really deserved greater acclaim and respect.
@gmcjetpilot2 жыл бұрын
Nope you are not special or in an exclusive club. They have a big following. Keep in mind they are Swedish, came out in the 1990's, had 5 year hiatus in early 2010's. They are still together and active. BTW this video +1M views. Open secret 😉. Love fool 65M views, Erase 23M. People noticed.

@@sharonsharkey714 I hear you... Dua Lipa fame and exposure is extensive (not saying undeserved) and Cardigans are not in the zeitgeist. However they are not strictly POP. Cardigans are more "Alt", one foot in underground art music and another foot in POP. Also they are not making new POP music in 2021/22 (except their 2 big POP hits many years ago). They don't try to make POP hits but make good music. Most people don't get it like you. So I understand on your list they are way higher (in any metric like sales, tours, radio play, Spotify listens, performances aired on TV). Keep in mind they have a life outside music and enjoy their time out of limelight. Making music and touring is work. They may come out with a hit tomorrow and be red hot. Fame is fleeting.

This song has always been about depression for me. It's a unique situation noone can get you out of; you get stuck in the loop till you have your moment and break out of it. Till than, nothing anyone says or does can help you. This is the sad truth so, to the depressed people, dont worry, you WILL have your moment, and to the people around them, please let them be, dont act like they are sick or something, they dont need help from you but themselves

To make it clear, People can be around you and help you, but only you can change how you see the world or yourself. Thats what depression is. Anger is a good emotion. Its your reaction to when something is unfair. It is not hopeless. You can make a change

@Cholypleige alias the video was inspired by the movie "Repulsion"(1965) by Roman Polanski... and it talks about a Belgian manicurist who lived in an apartment in London and suffered from schizophrenia and depression, in the movie she suffers a psychotic break and murders 2 people, she has delusions and hallucinations about rape and felt sexual repulsion, was played by the stunning French film lady Catherine Deneuve. this is the reference of this video

the entire Silent Hill sound milieu is contained in this song. Every single one of Yamaoka's go to moves are in here: playing a guitar like a mandolin, gigantic drum reverb, muddy front pickup digital distortion on rhythm guitars, fm synth organ sound. And it came out a year before Silent Hill 1 did.
