Yadier fully controlled the running game. Kept guys close by snap throws , and could throw out the best of them stealing. But 1 thing is painfully obvious. Framing by Yadi was top in the game. Our catchers now move the glove 6inches and never get a call. Too much selling it , if the Ball is on the line of the strikezone you catch it and freeze it right there making the ump's job a lot easier. None of our catchers get that part of framing a pitch. The bigger issue is Yadi is in as an advisor, and to this point none of our catchers been schooled on this.

This organization has become a complete and utter embarrassment due to nothing more than sheer incompetence and ignorance. Front office refusing to change a dying philosophy, a bafflingly inability to identify and develop homegrown pitching (without trading it) and an unwillingness to take any serious risks with trades and free agent signings (despite continually being burnt by poor trades and free agent signings). To add insult to injury, ownership has resulted to insulting the fan base for having expectations. Just about any Cardinal fan would be happy with a rebuild at this point. We'd just like some direction. Either mix things up or tear this thing down to the studs. New management is a necessity, the coaching staff needs a complete overhaul (Disco can stay) and any veteran with value or on expiring deal needs to be moved to help replenish the pitiful farm system. "The Cardinals don't rebuild." Yeah, well we also don't win. Great video! You nailed it.

He also should be an All-Star. The problem was never their inability to develop hitting outside of Walker, the problem is there inability to develop pitching which you could've brought up during the Arozarena/Liberatore trade. The hitting regressed all at the same time (from the beginning of the season to May 15th they were bottom 10 in AVG/Hits/HRs/RBIs/Runs/wRC+/OPS/fWAR), compounded by the fact Goldy and Nolan will make it their life's goal to torpedo any promising Cardinals season either by regressing during the regular season or disappearing in the playoffs. Once the offense of the offensive based team started hitting it was unsurprising that they started winning.

As a Cardinals fan, the problem I see is the ownership. They simply dont care. They dont care if the team finishes in last place because quite frankly, they are still going to make a profit. Cardinals fans will still show up, buy season tickets, and watch the games which will generate revenue for the team. Due to this, they are not urgent to fire Oli Marmol as well as the hitting coach because, as I said, they dont care. I also disagree with your solution to simply 'blow it up.' I understand the reason why you would think it would work but I dont think the players are the problem. I think Oli Marmol as well as the hitting coach should be fired. Not saying this would solve all the team's problems but it would at least be able to see whether or not a change of leadership can get the team back to being contenders.

Let me point out a few things, Adolis Garcia was so bad his first year with the Rangers that they released him only resigning him after he changed his approach. Marcell Ozuna was hurt and playing at maybe 2/3 of his previous and current abilities with very little signs of improvement while he was a Cardinal (let’s not even get into his horrendous off field events). Tyler O’Neil plays good when he is not hurt however it feels like he is out on the IL more than he is on active. For many years the Cardinals were the only team that would take a chance on O’Neil because his weight building stature is very susceptible to strains. He may be playing good right now but we are only 25% into the season, give it time, he will be on the IL soon.

The 2022 season was an outlier and one that I will remember fondly for the rest of my life. Other than that it’s been rather bleak with no real chance to go deep into the postseason other than the 2013 season. You can blame the payers for not preforming and the manager for sure. I've been saying it for a little while... I think the death of Oscar Taveras in 2014 really changed the direction that the Cardinals were heading. If that never happens, I think they would have stayed the course they'd been on since around 2009. What the Cards have been since firing Mike Shildt has been... not great. Albert Pujols' resurgence in '22 probably saved some less than stellar headlines, but the real turning point afterwards was the Tyler O'Neill debacle. This is an org that refuses to change their ways, stuck in a time from 13 years ago. And John Mozeliak went from being heralded as one of the better GMs in baseball to whatever this is. They're a clown show right now, plain and simple. Sonny Gray saying he wanted to be a Cardinal was the first time I heard a player say that since Matt Holliday (when he resigned here in the '09 offseason). I was genuinely surprised. The sooner things change for the Redbirds, the better. In my lifetime, there haven't been too many years of struggles. I've been spoiled rotten, but I'm tired of seeing the rot seep out.

Full disclaimer: I am a die hard Cardinals fan. There are aspects of this video that I agree with, however there are still FAR too many things that are taken at surface level and nothing else. For example; Ozuna played with the Cardinals for 2 seasons, not one. The Cardinals originally traded with Miami for Giancarlo Stanton, who then activated his no-trade clause. They traded away 4 prospects, half of whom are legit big league starters, if not stars in the league. Truth is, no one ever knows how prospects are going to pan out. It’s incredibly easy to say how big of a mistake this trade was (because it is indeed a mistake), but only in hindsight. I also find the clear omission of fleece jobs the Cardinals have done over the past several seasons odd, especially when much of the video is based on the Cardinals being on the wrong end of trades. Goldschmidt and Arenado, though both declining, are Hall-Of-Fame baseball players; they got for virtually nothing. Goldy won an MVP award with Arenado finishing third that same season. You mention JoJo Romero multiple times, whom they traded Edmundo Sosa to the Phillies for. Kittredge was traded for Richie Palacios. Ryan Fernandez was a Rule-5 pick. The traded Monty (who was never going to come back) for some really good prospects in Roby and Saggese. That being said, the Garcia for cash considerations is the only true head scratcher that has really come back to haunt them. However, it’s the same as with any franchise that has ever existed; you win some you lose some. Moving on to Marmol, this is where it gets dicey. I really do believe that Oli knows what he’s doing on a baseball level. He’s made some big mistakes there too though, like the mishandling of the bullpen in the wildcard game against the Phillies for example. It is on the managerial level is where he is lacking. He’s too young and inexperienced to understand how to effectively manage a clubhouse, and the front office had a very questionable firing of Mike Schildt (though the Padres are also sitting below .500 at this moment). The Tyler O’Neill situation is a clear example of that. However it is very misleading to say within the video that based on O’Neill’s build, that he’s not very fast. Tyler O’Neill is actually incredibly quick, so that is just blatant misinformation. Moving on to agreeable points, the Cardinals somewhere are lacking hitting development. Jordan Walker is indeed a prime example of that, but using Victor Scott II as evidence of that is an unfair reach. Scott II was never meant to start the season in the big leagues, he was thrusted into that role with injuries to Carlson, Nootbaar, and Edman; an entire starting outfield (though Carlson is another prospect that hasn’t panned out to fulfill his full potential). He had never played above AA, which though has worked for Michael Harris, is not a recipe for success. He’s also a defensive-minded outfielder to start with. Him being in AAA right now is just a part of his planned progression. The front office’s lack of free-agent signings is also frustrating. Sonny Gray is a great addition, but they have just seemed so reluctant to go all in on top-tier talent. Free agency is also not as simple as people like to make it. It’s not “just go sign this guy!” It’s a two-way street; that player has to have interest in playing there, agree to the terms, and so much more. Still, it seems as though they haven’t been as aggressive as they should for a large-market team. The Willson Contreras outfielder issue, also greatly mishandled and weird. Back to another point I’d like to highlight, you mention they need to make changes in the front office, without mentioning that has already begun. This offseason, they hired Chaim Bloom, who is widely respected for his work with the Rays and Red Sox farm systems. Yes, he did trade away Mookie Betts, a huge error, but he is an analytical and statistical wizard who should help tremendously. As evidence, it was him who pushed Mo to poach Fernandez, and get Nick Robertson in the O’Neill trade. Mo has come out and state that it is the plan for Bloom to take over his position in the near future. In conclusion, the Cardinals are not in a great spot. The product on the field hasn’t been good, the clubhouse and fan base is plagued with frustration, and a some answers seem to be there and not taken. They’ve been playing better recently, which is promising, but not necessarily reliable. They have some high-level talent in the minors, though not very deep. We all talk about how old their pitching staff is, and forget to mention how young their lineup is. So, truly the situation isn’t as easy as boiling it down to these few points, especially without deeper context provided.

Choosing Mozeliak over Jeff Luhnow is what set us on this course of failure. Luhnow was really the one who could evaluate talent and Mo took credit for it. I definitely believe Mo himself hacked Luhnow. That’s why we have had a string of bad signings because Mo can’t evaluate talent and the farm system has gone bone dry.

I don’t mind the Garcia trade, he had been given the opportunity and really didn’t look like much when he was here. And 29 other teams passed on him, twice. Arrozarena is upsetting though bc he was never given a chance, and in the limited chance he was given, he excelled. Definitely Mozaliaks worst move as a GM. Edit*-bc I made my comment before finishing the video- I just want to point out im in no way a Marmol fan, but to say he pushed the security guard and act like he did it with some ill intent is a bit ridiculous- he got in his way when trying to challenge a play, which he wasn’t able to do bc said security obstruction, and then saved the man from falling down the stairs after being caught off balance.

Yadi ... tell our catchers too much framing is a big failure. We are walking guys because the catchers don't understand how framing a pitch works. This leads to not getting borderline strikeouts, and the walks are a lot higher. The art of framing a pitch isn't moving the glove 6 inches to the heart of the plate. Its about freezing the Location on a strike to make the umps jobs easier to call it correctly. And taking a pitch 2 inches off the plate, and on impact move the glove only 1.5 to 2 inches then freezing a borderline pitch. Stop trying to trick the ump on would be strikes moving the glove 4 5 & 6 inches. A blind bat can see the glove move 6 inches and the Ump isn't buying the Jalopy. Don't be a terrible used car salesman , be a smart car salesman. If it's a strike, freeze it there, & ya get the call. If it's not, but close move it only enough to sell it and then freeze it. Insulting the ump's intelligence is not going to win ya any calls.

Arozarena is hitting .160 and Libby has been a solid innings eater this year Adolis was ass with us and then went to Texas and was ass to start with them to the point that they dfa’d and he literally cleared waivers and went back to their AAA and then put on 30+ pounds of muscle and is decent now Hicks was always a good pitcher but wasn’t working with the cardinals and now the giants tried something different and its worked but won’t last forever O’Neill was constantly injured and inconsistent after 2021 and was not getting any cheaper and we got younger guys coming up. Who cares if he hits a few homers?

As as Brewers fan, I kind of view this as karma for constantly destroying our chances to be world champions since 1982. But at the same time, no team should have to endure this incompetence and I do feel some empathy for the self-proclaimed "best fans in baseball".

The Cardinals are my team, and they're in about the worst shape I've ever seen. They need to completely clean house from the front office down to the manager. The current front office philosophy is dated, and it's clear the team has lost its ability to draft, retain, develop, and/or sign/trade for the talent required to compete for a championship. I wouldn't mind watching the team have a losing record if it was rebuilding in a new direction. Not this. This team is dead. Lifeless. Boring. I've been to a ton of games over the last 4 seasons, and I'm not going to be going down to the ballpark much to watch this. Especially not with the attitude of the front office about the state of the team. Complete denial and constantly trying to blue sky the situation to the fans. Enough is enough. It's a sad time for Cardinals baseball.

The Cardinals have made tons of bad decisions in the last years, but Garcia and Arozerena aren’t either of them. The Cardinals always have outfielders who go on a hot streak for a a year or two and then spend years trying to find themselves. No matter which outfielder they would’ve traded instead of Arozerena whether it would be O’Neil Nootbar Bader Carlson, all of them would’ve been painful to watch go on a streak for a different team. By all means fire the manager and the president, but those two trades are the least of the accusations.

If you think Marmol is bad you should have seen Gabe Kapler! Talk about some one all about himself that was Kapler as Giants manager. Giants are still feeling the Kapler effect. Giants have the most swings and miss of any team in baseball. Looks like the Cards are following suit, swing and miss, bad defense, suspect pitching, terrible manager. Sorry St. Louis.
