Ngl, that hug between him and Suter at the end of the Dallas series brought some feels out. I can only wish that Kirill was on the Wild at the same time as him and Suter in their primes; maybe they could’ve won the cup

Parise to me is like, a prototypical "hall of very good" kind of player, he had notoriety around the league during his peak for his skills, over 400 goals, over 400 assists, over 1000 games with lots of longevity and a reasonably decent playoff resume even without that cup. Best of luck in the future Zach!

Not sure how the Parise Suter story line was not talked about more during this series, especially since they both were pretty prominent for their respective teams. So busy talking up their wagers they forget to talk about the real stories around the game we all love!

Brodeur actively tried to recruit Sutter to NJ but he didn’t want to play on the East Coast. So Zach “followed” Sutter to the Wild. If they both come to NJ they may have won the cup over the next two years back then

@chenry15 No. Not at all. I knew Zach during his time in NJ Zach was NEVER staying in NJ period. Zach had just gotten engaged and wanted to settle down and raise a family NJ was NOT on the list. Zach took the money to go home and be his extended family so he could start his own. Simply as that.

@@chenry15 As much flak as I personally have given Suter, I am truly glad to have him, he has been solid for the most part if unspectacular. Which is exactly what the blue line had needed. A steady consistent presence to play along side Miro. Parise can still play too. I was surprised at the jump he had. Truly hope he gives it one more shot. Just not with the Av's lol

@@yoholmes273 Then you also know about his "BS" saying how he wanted to play for a winner. I would have respected if he had just told NJ he wanted to go home before accepting the team Captaincy, making the Stanley Cup Finals and bolting immediately. And both Parise and Brodeur have admitted what Brodeur was attempting to do in keeping him and getting Sutter. Just to be clear I never said Zach was staying.

He was playing so good in the 1st round. His line was unstoppable versus the Jets. I feel like he has some hockey left in him. I hope he gives it another go with the Avs late in the year next year. Remember Bourque... He didn't get it in his first try with the Avs. He had to commit to coming back and trying again. Argument could be made that he was the best offensive player in Devils history up until their current crop. 45 goals in 08 could be looked at as 60 today. Easily a top 10 player in the league during those years and its a bummer he never got a Cup in NJ. He had some really good seasons after leaving but I dont think he ever lived up to that contract with the Wild. Injuries played a major role and honestly I'm shocked he had played as long as he has. I think he definitely would've gotten 500 goals if he stayed healthy throughout his career.

Parise had a good career so it sucks that the first thing you think of is injuries and his contract. I remember him in the Olympics and his last season in New Jersey as the highlights. As a wild fan I don't know if there is much memorable stuff from his time with us. He was a hustle player and great two way player but he was not the elite offensive guy that we needed him to be.

Will he get his number retired? No, absolutely not. And he didn't accomplish enough in NJ to make the Ring of Honor before he left either. Devils fans are also split on either liking him for the efforts he gave on the ice or despising him for how he left (I appreciated what he gave and understood his choice. The way mgmt handled Kovy's future vs Zach's extension eligibility was night and day). Wild fans hate the contract and what that did to their team, so that's a definite 'no' on any honor. Still a hell of a career, and I'll always remember his Devils days/2010 Olympics fondly.

Zach was a COMPLETE coward and POS IMO. He talked about wanting to win and then bolted NJ when they were in the Staney Cup Finals. I will never discredit a player for wanting to go home, but Parise was not forthright with the Devils. Especially considering he was the team, Captain. He should have been a real man and said he wanted to go home. Instead, he went to Minnesota and never Sniffed another Stanley Cup opportunity.
