I am in my 8th month , started in December of 2023. My doctor had no trouble ordering the tests I wanted done. She has stated that my labs are the best they have been going back to 2008 when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I lost 53 pounds, and I have reversed type 2 diabetes. I went from an A1C of 7.8 to 6.0 in 8 months. I am off both metformin and insulin injection. I am eating Grass fed Beef, Fish(wild caught only) Rabbit, eggs and butter. I drink water and black coffee. My average blood sugar is still about 124. but way down from last December. My fasting insulin was center of normal in July.

Are you counting calories or fasting on carnivore? I have a theory that the liver produces blood sugar if you fast, which may explain why your glucose is still a tiny bit high. Some people on carnivore had rising A1C and blood glucose and it is not clear why.

Hey Jenny. Thanks a ton for the super helpful vid. Those CAC scores are such a blessing! Did you ever have any plaque build up ever before you started the diet? Was just wondering if 18 months of carnivore diet actually helped clear up any minor arterial plaque build up. Planning to get my mom who is 68 and dad who is 72 to start the diet along with me and my wife. Fingers crossed it goes well.
@JennyMitich2 ай бұрын
Hello! No, I am only 40 so it's pretty standard that I have a zero CAC. But, I do believe that you can repair some plaquing once you get inflammation and blood sugar under control. The human body is an amazing thing and once the damage is no longer occurring in the arteries, there is not more reason for plaque accumulation. But, that has yet to be proven, just a theory. I have talked to some cardiologists that say they have reversed plaquing.

My A1C is 5.0 and my morning glucose is around 95, while the average should certainly be over 85 because I am not on carnivore or keto, more like a standard diet with reduced junk food, sugar, and fruits. @@JennyMitich Ruminate animals have one stomach with four compartments: the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasums, unlike white meat animals such as pigs and poultry, as a result what ruminate animals eat is more filtered and refined. This results in their being very negligible difference between grass-fed and feed based cows, unlike with pigs which can be more effected by bad diet. Folks who think cow's fart methane is bad are the same people ignorant of mono cropping, regenerative farming for sustainability, and the idea of humans producing more methane gas by eating diets high in fiber, while at the same time most spoiled foods rotting in trash dumps are majorly plant based, and adding significant methane to the atmosphere as they decompose. If one has the resources to help promote and sustain regenerative farming to help improve our climate, that's great! One serving of oily fish contains something like 1000-2000mg of omega3 and this is recommended once a week. It doesn´t matter if your LDL levels are higher than a normal person. It depends wht kind of LDL you have. If you have inflammation, insuline resistance or t2d, then your LDL is damaged becouse it ges oxodized. Well in helthy keto or carnivore without seed oils and carbs, you wont get that problem. My doctor wanted to put me on statins for high levels of LDL. He didn´t had a clue how the cholesterol works. I said to him that i am not in the risk group to get oxodized LDLs at all. So there is no reason that i would harm my body with statins just to lower the numbers down. I also told him the fact that every human cell needs cholesterol and protein and if i start to take statins those well prevent all the healing and recovering from workouts. Also when you are getting better, your redcells doesn´t die as quick as in carb based diet that will also raise the numbers of LDL in your blood. So deffenetly you shouldn´t worry about it. I wish that i had made thyroid tests way before. I was diagnosed hypothyrodism and it made alot of damage in my body. Hypothyrodism raises your cholesterol at sky high and i got a mild heart attack becouse for the early symptoms for that i hat 5,5 years. My total cholesterol after that mild heart attack were 1469.45 mg/dL (38 mmol/L) and last time after i got medication for it, it was dropped to 197.22 mg/dL (5.1 mmol/L). So the drop is quite huge after that. None of the doctors or nurses in the heart hospital had ever seen as high cholesterol number in them life. So i propably made Finnish national record with that. There might be lots of issues in health if you have hypothyrodism. Harder to breathe and that caused changes in my voice and sleep apnea. Both are cured now. Hair loss, always cold and no sweating, weight gain, fatigue, dry skin... The list is long. But after the medicaton everything has gone better. Most of those had got better becouse i were already been 12 months on ketogenic diet. Now i´ve been over 17 months on keto and all the blood work are fine. I have also lost 99,2 lbs (45 kg) and my BMI has dropped from 36,1 to 22,2. Just keep on going in your path to healthier life!
@EricAnimeFreak2 ай бұрын
I've had hypothyroidism since i was 13, I'm 36, my current dose is around150MCG. Even after losing 185 pounds, my dosage has only gone up since before I went ketovore by 40MCG. I still have obstructive sleep apnea, but not nearly as badly as i used to. Currently eating 0-5grams of carbs, 150grams of protein, and 250grams of fat a day. This is mostly red meat, and some heavy cream for coffee. My ac1 is a 4.5 and i feel great with so many alleviated conditions, and do a lot of exercise, i hit a new record of cycling 80 miles continuously in 3 1/2 hours a month ago. Do you think my hypothyroidism has any chance to be reversed, hearing you have had such luck, gives me some hope, but hypothyroidism has always sucked.
@ArchieArpeggio2 ай бұрын
@@EricAnimeFreak Well hard to say is there cure for it. My dose is 125 mcg for day. My next control is next summer and i am planing to try to drop thyroxin off 2 weeks before (unless i get some symtoms back) and check ih there has been improvement of my thyroid. I have heard that some people have cured hypothyrodism at keto or carnivore, but it propably depends how bad the sickness is and what condition your thyroid is. My mother has hypothyrodism too. She got diagnosed it at late 80´s. But she has always had bad diet even that she eats whole foods. She even have t2d, but she is so stubborn that she wont start keto to fix the problem. Not even that she knows that i reversed my insuline resistance. Keto would give her so much better and healthier life. My sleep apnea were really bad before the medication. I had 47 cuts of breathing in hour when they measured it at the first time. Nurse called me four days ago and now i have only 1,3 per hour. So we came to this conclution that i can return cpap machine back to the hospital. No need for that anymore. I hope that you´ll get better too and can ditch the machine h*ll out of your life. I just hated to use that. I stopped to using it early july becouse it started to interrupt my sleep and i had to have enough sleep that i could do my job.

Redid my bloodwork a month later since starting Carnivore a couple months since I did not fast long enough the first time. But after I got my tests, still wonderinf why mt Trygs still high. So my Trygs from 167 down to 130, HDL from 71 up to 85, LDL shows above 350. I did fast at least 14 hours and did not excercise that morning. The tech mentioned maybe I didn't drink enough water during the fast. Idk. Though my Tryg/HDL ratio is 1.5, I thought I would see it lower. Maybe I need to give it more time?

@GuitarTotality2 ай бұрын
When you finally get to your CHOLESTEROL data, the numbers for Total and LDL cholesterol show quite HIGH, it says "high" next to the numbers. You then disregard this and state that your numbers are in "your normal range". The misleading word is "normal". Your cholesterol numbers are, in fact, normally "high." 1st - This is because you are eating animal carcasses. Those animals ate plants. Plants contain NO CHOLESTEROL. The animal produces its own cholesterol, therefore not having HIGH cholesterol. We humans also produce cholesterol - as much as we require in balanced quantity. When we eat vegetation (no cholesterol), this amount stays in balance. When we eat animal carcasses, the amount of cholesterol goes into imbalance, by increasing greatly. 2nd - Vegetation contains all the "Essential" amino acids. This means all the amino acids we CANNOT produce ourselves. We eat vegetation, get the essential amino acids, then produce the rest to make our own COMPLETE HUMAN PROTEIN. The animals YOU eat also do this process. All the excessive amino acids you DO NOT require, end up in your bloodstream, destroying the epithelial lining in your veins and arteries. 3rd - This "One, Two punch" to our circulatory system is the main contributing factor to heart disease, leading to heart attacks, triple bypass surgeries, etc.. There are hundreds of studies to support this fact. The numbers don't lie - your current "normal" is not healthy. Try "experimenting" a while on a well-planned and balanced, Organic, whole food Vegan diet. Do that for the same amount of time as your carnivore trial. It would be interesting to see the results of your bloodwork, then! Best of Skill! 🌎✌🌱
