Are you asking if the temperature of the reservoirs don't change? If so, then they do not change, it's theoretically maintained to be constant. @@yigitcan824

@@omkarreddydevarapalli130 because work done during isothermal expansion is not equal to work done during isothermal compression due to different temperatures as W = nRTln(V2/V1) , work done at high temperature is greater than work done at lower temperature ,

Have you heard of the Karno generator from Hyliion? They are claiming 90-95% heat efficiency paired with a linear generator claiming 50% electrical efficiency. They say they are able to achieve the heat efficiency because of additive manufacturing allowing them to make very complex heat exchangers and parts for flameless oxidation. My question is, is this type of efficiency even possible? Hopefully the Karno piques your interest because I would love to see a video theoretically breaking it down and explaining how it works and if those numbers are even possible. Cheers!

can you please elaborate in the 1st step you said the gas is allowed to expand , without transfering heat or pulling the piston outside the gas can expand at first

Hand up! All 4 procrsses have FORCE to slowly pull and push piston all along the processes, Right? If yes, big thanks to you. I've been stucked here for many years.
@QuestionSolutions7 ай бұрын
Force, yes, but it doesn't have to always be an "external" force. For example, when the gas expands, that creates a force on the piston, but that's not like someone is pulling the piston from the outside, it's done by the gas itself.

For the last example (~ 11:30) I thought it was only for a Carnot engine that the efficiency is a function of the reservoirs temperatures (TL and TH). So shouldn’t the efficiency be 1- (ql/qh)
@kenichiishirahama215Ай бұрын
Nevermind I tried the other way (equating the efficiency of the Carnot to that of a regular one to give you (qh/ql)=(th/tl) and it’s the same andwer

in last question is our heat engine is reversible or not/ because u use efficiency formula of reversible to find TL. or we can use it always anytime for any heat engine
@QuestionSolutions Жыл бұрын
All the problems in this set are about Carnot engines/ reversible engines. You can only use the efficiency formula of reversible engines on just reversible engines.
@numankashif6158 Жыл бұрын
@QuestionSolutions sir if the last question is in the paper, how i find out this problem is about carnot or reversible engine.
@QuestionSolutions Жыл бұрын
Most of the time, it will state that it's a reversible engine, or a Carnot engine. If it doesn't, you can compare the efficiencies as shown at 8:30 using the efficiency equation for any heat engine.@@numankashif6158
