One of the top female voices of all time. Gone to soon. She passed at age 32 of eating disorder. Karen's is smooth and rich contrallo voice which is a low pitched. She can sing an emotion which alot of singers don't do well. She is unique. She can switch from chest voice to head voice easily. From octave to octave. The best!! Do more please.

I'm glad you are discovering the artists of the 1970s. It was truly a good time in history for music. I graduated high school in 1975, and I felt like the world shuddered on its axis when I learned of Karen Carpenter's death. Some of her music seems so melancholy in perspective. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and impressions.

Lizzie, it is so reassuring to see young people with open minds like you, listening to the legendary Carpenters, the best- selling musical act of the 1970's. Your analysis of their music is intelligent and respectful. The Carpenters' performances are timeless. So many of the songs they chose to record have become popular music standards. Lizzie, thank you for sharing their music and helping to preserve their incomparable musical legacy.

Her brother did the arrangements on all their music, they had great chemistry. Her drum talent was highly respected by the best drummer of the 60’s-70’s, Buddy Rich. Her death was so tragic, she suffered from an eating disorder which back in those days was unknown and because they really had no treatment lead to her death. 🙏🏻✝️❤️

A woman singing and playing the drums was pretty much unheard of in the late '60s and early '70s. I wish, as a rock music fan, that I had appreciated Karen more while she was still with us. She died in her early 30s due to anorexia, gone much too soon.

I saw the Carpenters in 1972. Karen sang and drummed at the same time. I was blown away to see Karen sing and drum. She drummed and sang at the same level as Phil Collins or Levon Helm, check out on KZbin her cover of the Beatles Help and Dancing in the Streets. Karen was known for recording a song in one take. In other words, the first take was perfect. Check out the song Superstar-he recording is the first take. She read the lyrics of the song off either a napkin or envelope. I think the very best song Karen sang is Trying to get the Feeling Again. The song was lost and then found by Richard --he released it 11 years after Karen died and 19 years after it had been recorded. It is on KZbin. At one point, you hear her turn the page on the music sheets.

You certainly chose a wonderful song to play for us, Lizzie The Gangster Hippie and The Stuffed Squad. When you're posting a video, I listen to the lyrics calmly and serenely. I have lost count of how many times that I've heard "Rainy Days and Mondays". As I listened along with you Lizzie, I finally heard and understood: "What I've Got Has Come And Gone Before" Up until your video, all I understood was that Rainy days and Mondays make her sad. I need for you to know that I appreciate your videos, Lizzie. On top of the serene feeling I get. I know how much you 'prepare' before each of your videos. I've made room in my life for you and 'The Stuffed Animal Squad' videos.
