I had one of these in 65# and one in 75#, both made by Jay St. Charles of Tacoma, Washington. He told me that over 75# the bows tended to come apart at full draw. Great for travel no matter how you go.👍

yes, it's not ideal for heavyweight bows

What else is the Tube hiding from me? Why haven't I found you before? Algorithm, my butt! We have no idea what we're doing with all this data. You're delightful. Yours Truly, "Binging in Pacific Northwest, USA"

I have a 32# take - down long bow similar to this, in all fiberglass (from the 1960's). The bow fits in a zipper quiver with the arrows. I use it for bow fishing in streams, and could use it with blunts for small game. Super light to back pack into the mountains, fun to shoot, accurate enough up close, but not so good past 20 yards. Poor "cast". I never heard the term "Carraige Bow", and did not know the technology was this old. Thanks.

Hi. I asked for your opinion about this kind of bow from one of your old videos and you mentioned that it has a higher failure rate. Do you still think this has a flaw in this design? I really like to have a carriage longbow that I can easily carry around.
@longbows5 жыл бұрын
It's not a 'flaw' as such, but you are adding another area of possible failure to a wooden item that gets bent thousands of times under pressure. For us as Bowyers this means it can become uneconomical to make and sell, not so much of a problem for an individual to make make one.

Might be an idea for packing a longbow into my little Hyundai Veloster

Do you make and tiller a normal longbow then cut it in half? Or make it from two separate billets?

Two separate billets, then tillered.

@@longbows You think a bow sleeve can handle 100 lb bow?

Hi guys, that's a good idea if you ride a motorcycle and a keen archer. I couldn't imagine a 6 to 7 foot bow clamped on a bike. Its good for little micro cars as well. Imagine getting a 7 foot bow into a Fiat 500. 🤔

... but if you were to mount it correctly, you could call it "Launch Control".

Less handshock with a heavier handle? Any difference in cast or efficiency? Wouldn't it be great if they were allowed under competition rules!
@longbows5 жыл бұрын
No, not really, that would be down to the Bowyer's skill. You would need an identical bow and a shooting machine to find that out, I doubt it would be much different.

Mmm hypothetically would it be possible to make a heavy draw weight medieval Warbow (100-150 pounds+) into a two-piece takedown like this???
