I read something on twitter about the fact that the northwest passage was kind of a tale of hubris. at the time bridgerton is supposed to be set in, making it there was essentially impossible and doomed to fail, so canonically, if he goes, lord debling would have likely died and penelope would have been on her own. it's quite literally a doomed romance!

Very much so. It was notoriously treacherous, and explorers who embarked on voyages there very rarely returned. Colin was well aware of this, and knew that Penelope was likely dooming herself to a life of imminent widowhood.

The thing about when Penelope ducked from the balloon….in the face of fear, you almost have no immediate reaction because it’s happening so fast. That’s why when bad situations happen in real life to people, sometimes they’re late to respond. In Penelope’s case however, she was looking at Colin the whole time then she realized that the balloon was coming at her.

The first few episodes felt like everything happened so fast, but we have been waiting for almost 4 years for them to get together. From what I hear, the Careage ride was nothing compared to what will happen in the up and coming episodes. I don't know if I can handle it. *Closes eyes, but looks through fingers*

The song playing when everyone is entering the ball is cheap thrills. Francesca and John are so adorable! I l have loved season 3 so far watching these 2 slowly fall in love with each other for the last 3 seasons has been great! they have both been in love with each other- but for Collin he relegated those feelings as friendship, so even though he has been in love with pen for years because they have been friends for so long he didn't initially register those feelings as romantic. out of all of the 3 main couples (D &S, K &A and now P & C) they are my favorite. They have both been in love with each other for so long ( Penn more outwardly) . Their relationship in what has been established so far over the last 3 seasons feels the most realistic and most romantic (at least to me).

I liked Lord Dublin but I feel he was unfair to Pen. He even said the marriage would be more about being convenient and just being content and not about love; so it doesn't seem right to be mad at Pen for already having feelings for someone else.

It is unfair and unreasonable for us to expect Debling to be happy or comfortable with the fact that his wife is highly likely to cheat on him.

I love how positive you are about everyone and rooting for them, so joyful to watch. Very funny how uncomfortable you are with the cringe parts, I think they're what make this season more rom commy than the last 2. Willow Tree scene = awkward Mr. Darcy seeing Elizabeth again in P&P Balloon Pen competing with Cressida = the one that's hardest for me to watch, but she sounds so much like Bridget Jones here Pen/Cressida racing to Debling across the ball room = I've been told this is reminiscent of Planes Trains & Automobiles. Pen stands no chance with her short legs. There's other moments that remind me of different rom coms, but they're not cringe moments. Thanks for the video 💌

I don't think Lord Debling was mad. I think he had just put the pieces together between what Penelope has already told him along with what Cressida just said. I think he sort of already knew because he would catch Penelope staring at Colin across the room. Although he would pretty much live life apart from wife, he still wants an honorable independent wife that won't cheat on him and tarnish his name. Which completely makes sense. He wasn't angry, he was just simply questioning her about where her loyalties really lie. He was very straightforward about everything. When he thought otherwise, he simply questioned her but he did it in a very respectful way. He was very calm, straightforward. I also don't see him as the type of person to hold a grudge. I like Lord Deblings character a lot but just not with Penelope.

Colin is almost a foot taller than Penelope (6'0 to 5'1). Although this height difference is pretty common in real life, it is perhaps less so onscreen. Anthony is 5'11 to Edwina's 5'3. (Based on actors' heights.)
