I always prefer the Cars live performances than the recorded versions. They sounded better. Plus they moved things around upon occasion and made it fun. All of them are/were great musicians. @@humanchannel7825 They seemed a bit tired and jaded on that tour. I think a lot of it came from Ric having been pressured to write new material quickly knowing it wasn't his best, plus they hadn't had a lot of time to perfect each songs sound; many of their previous songs were one's they'd played and perfected long before. Thanks for post. I adore Elliot Easton's pink guitar for one. But the whole image of the band, the artistry and production of the songs captured perfectly in this live performance, serve to re-enforce The Cars HOF status. In fact, the overall effect of the multi-masterpiece songs on Shake It Up is enough to lift it to #2 on my list of my Top 5 Cars albums (1978 -1984) behind Candy-O and before their debut. In addition, for my money, "Think It Over" and "Cruiser" are brilliant and sometimes over-looked masterpieces on the album, as well. Super Cars fan Nov 2020.
