Each year we like to pack our bags, and cameras, and travel somewhere in the world to get an understanding of different car cultures and scenes. For this special episode, we head to the other side of the planet to check out some of the incredible cars in Cuba. In this documentary, we meet the locals, work with some mechanics, and of course drive some crazy cars. It certainly was an incredible experience, and gives you a totally different understanding of what it means to modify cars. This has been a huge project for us, so we hope you enjoy The Cars of Cuba!

Hi guys, I am Cuban and like a lot of us I live in Miami where I stumbled onto your channel and I have loved it ever since. I got to say that watching this little documentary made in cuba brought tears to my eyes. It's being 7 years since I left my country and I have missed it every day of my life. For me it was an emotional roller-coaster watching you guys driving a Chevy powered by a diesel Toyota engine and a lada because those are the cars I grew up with. My grandfather owned a lada1600 when I was a kid and the car I was taken to the airport on when I left the country was a 1955 Chevy bel air powered by a Mitsubishi diesel engine. I can guarantee I am one of the few Cubans who actually know about your channel and follow you guys since the language is different and the little English they speak down there is not enough for your accents. I have been a subscriber for the last 4 years. My favorite car of all you have worked on was MOD MAX and the Mini. Thanks guy for doing this project in my beloved island and I hope you can do it again. Leo

Thanks mate. The "camera man" was actually just the two of us and a mate. I used a 5D. Marty shot using GoPros. And we took a mate with us to help out so we could get shots of both of us at the same time. Total production crew of 3 (including the two of us) Back at home we edited it ourselves and wrote the music. Was a huge job but really happy with how it turned out. Now we're keen on doing it again in another country!

I dont know how to express my gratitude to you guys for showing us to the world in this way. I have seen your progress since you guys started to work in your driveway and one thing I have noticed is that you guys are unique and great not because you love cars in a passionate way but because you know how to transmit that sentiment trough videos and show us what real passion is, by the simplest things of life . The part where Moog mentioned the red ribbon on the cars is a true thing for all car owners in Cuba. Lemme tell ya a story, lads. Around 2009 streetfire suddenly stop working "in my region", the struggle to find something car related on YT was real, tons of cat videos tough, one day my mate send me a link, saying - check these guys, they're doing our type of messing up as us. I think it was "how to install front intercooler" video. Immediately hooked up, watched regularly for a while, then life happened, YT stopped listing the videos as recommended, forgot about MCM for some years... A week ago, browsing my saved channels when suddenly - what to see, what to see. The boys kept going. Hats down! Legends! Been binge-watching all of missed content. The specials are A-MA-ZING. Without competition. And at last but not least - these lads are one of the TWO car shows I know (the other one is the old TopGear), that take the extra step, not only checking the wiki articles for the dry data, but learning how to properly pronounce brands, names, locations and so on. And doing it with ease! Unbelievable! As I said - hats down boys, hats down! Long story short - I'm very, very glad you're here, doing what you do, lads. Cheers. btw, back in the days we affectionately called the 126p "Ficho".

I love Fiat Polski ❤️
@PozytyffTv7 жыл бұрын
It's actually "Polski Fiat" - means Polish Fiat. Fiat 126. Too bad they were driving some broken scrap instead of working car :) In Poland they are popular in rallying - small, easy to fix, cost nothing if you crash into some tree :)

"cost nothing if you crash into some tree". Yeah, especially because the crumple zone ends on engine. And it's placed in the back xD
@fagioize7 жыл бұрын
Mateusz some of them are rare and cost more, like 126 Bambino.

That depends on what speed you crash in. Sometimes it will just end on the fuel cap :]

Excellent video guys. I used to live there and actually I think that I know one of the drivers of that old 1500. When I was in Cuba I had a beautiful lada 2105. Good memories brought back.

Just came back from cuba and I can say that the backyard mechanics there are near engineering levels, if the engine going in doesnt fit then they modify the front end to work in their favor, I saw a 50s Ford coupe with a turbo diesel engine from a Mercedes, a powering steering rack and pinion set up from a toyota truck and a brake and clutch system from a Lada all while looking like a factory finish. Absolutely amazing work

im surprised this doesnt have more views honestly. when i originally watched fast 8, i was thinking there was going to be more about cuba. not just 5 minutes. the fact that you guys went there to explore deeper into their car culture with a couple videos means alot.

Respect for the LADA 2103, actuality it's very beautifull and cool car. you need to drive GAZ 21 and MOSKVICH 412. Are you going to come to Russia someday?
7 жыл бұрын
Валера Яшкин My mum had a couple of 412s in the late 70s and early 80s ... in the UK! They were pretty rare even then here but they were very cool, innovative cars, from the hidden filler flap to the grill blind for winter running they were really quite good cars.

This is one of the best mcm episodes. My buddy who is married to a Cuban born woman went there this year. He said most if the cars there dont have the factory engine or even the same make of engine. Also like mentioned in the video theres tons of tractor engines in cars and even small single cylinder engine like from a lawn tractor or go cart.
