Yeah but it did nothing but waste her time and energy. There were more effective and efficient ways to deal with the situation, present only in the specific situation, that could have been pursued. For example, I think if the girls had confronted this guy with a male friend, he would be more likely to listen to the point, and take it more seriously, because there is more of a perceived threat. At the end of the day, no man wants to look bad or weak in front of another man, this this may have been a more effective approach psychologically. There's so many things wrong with the phone call, that I can't really even pick a point where to start. I think the phone call not only shows that he's a narcissist, but also that he's grown up online, shown by the fact uses the vernacular of those who have been exposed publically. His initial response to when it first got mentioned showed that he was prepared for it... and that shows he's aware that to some degree it was wrong for him to do- but his attitude on the call shows directly that he really only cares if he gets caught rather than if it happened. But of course, they're ways to handle it properly. Because there's a difference to say, putting gore to make a statement of a certain topic, than putting gore because you want to be mature and edgy, it won't be the same. It all depends on what you're doing and the intention

It's one thing to want to depict the effects of it and another to portray it in a romanticized version. Lolita the book of course isn't a visual representation and it's protagonist disgusting through and through and wholly to blame. But in the movies Dolores or Lolita's actresses are always shown in the s3xual light of Humbert, in a way tricking the audience into believing she was ALWAYS trying to seduce him in some way and not because she was viewed inappropriately or fantasized by Humbert in that way. Things like that and graphic scenes of SA are shown to desensitize people to these issues irl and honestly it's saddening
