As Grandma in my mid 60's, I am quickly making this decision to move into a place with my 3 Granddaughters and their single mother. This is a survival issue because rent and everything has gotten so expensive. I see the benefits but Im concerned that I suddenly become, cook, housekeeper, babysitter, chauffer, etc. She wants to split the rent which is fine, but because of that, I want my privacy and freedom too. Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries which is going to be a tough one to establish.

While this may be great for many, it isn’t for everyone. There have been instances where generation/cultural gaps have created issues. One example is where a grandparent didn't understand that her grandchild's "behavioral issues" were due to high-functioning autism.

Very nice vid. I’m new to your channel. My sister and brother in law and 1 nephew at the time lived with my parents around 15 years ago. This came about because my brother in law was flipping houses and making a nice profit and he got out of the last house at the right time but knew getting into a new one was not a good idea. So they decided to live with my parents. Same benefits worked out. My mom took care of my nephew. I’m sure things were not perfect but it all worked out. One thing I would like to point out from perhaps a little downside perspective is the loss of some discipline. Example: Nephew - Mom can I eat this candy? My sister - No. it’s too close to dinner time Nephew goes to his grandpa (my dad). Grandpa can I have this candy. My dad 🤫. Ok don’t tell your mom. Here you go. My nephew - Mom…look what grandpa gave me! My sister - Dad!!! What did I tell you before!! 😂🤣

Really so not stressing about paying extremely high cost of livings on your own makes you a helpless baby?

Let me guess, you’re a conservative and you believe in doing things the way they’ve always been done. Hate to break it to you, but multigenerational land and homes is how it’s always been done. People leaving their families when they turn 18 is actually fairly new and it’s why the economy has been plummeting for the last few decades. Telling families they had to split up so that each individual could put themselves in debt to buy (actually, borrow) their own home, is how banks became richer and richer. We’d be better off if people kept their property in their family and stopped taking out these ridiculous home loans.
