This is great- sensible advice in simple format. We really need a good and reliable forum for discussing the books on brain science, though. There is such a load of junk out there on the bookshop shelves!

This is brilliant! In the days of shrinking school budgets it is even more important that scarce education money is spent on the best practices. Perhaps just as important is that those teachers of good will, who are trying to truly improve their teaching, are not sold feel-good pseudoscience (multiple intelligences, learning styles, brain-based BS, etc...) by school-hustling pedagogy pimps. Even the best can become jaded after too many episodes of unrewarded emotional investment. Bravo folks!

Well, this has opened a world of possibilities. The ideas such as examining a research paper for its methodology and p-value, and meta-analysis is second nature to me. I can now link the professional basis of my previous career ( medicine) with my new path of teaching - and perhaps, even as a neophyte have something to offer, while respecting the rich and wonderful learnings and understandings of those with decades of experience in Teaching, and in thinking about ‘what is Learning’. From Melbourne, Australia.

Did you know that John Hattie is at Melbourne Uni? I used his work (and several others) in my book (and have his endorsement).

@@oakbellUK Yep. In my ‘following the trail of an idea’ research, I came across that early. Small world 🌎. And yes, saw the endorsement of your work. Rightly so, imho. You and your colleagues are operationalizing the EBT Hattie talks about - I liked your reference to the UK’s NICE. A very apt analogy for your organization’s aims. I am excited to find this rapidly growing area in Education/Teaching, and I suspect it might make my next teaching practicum experience.....awkward. I know and understand the value of personal experience built up over years - but it is only meaningful if we have evidence that what we do IS effective, or at least has a high chance of being so. Meta-analysis evidence, rather than taking away the ‘art’ of a profession, refines and directs it. Thank you so much for engaging with me on this - I can’t tell you how much this has been a light bulb 💡 moment. A sleepless night in the Antipodes well spent!

Very much like the Reggio Emilia based approach of cyclical inquiry. Nice!

Has there been any updates to this video? I'm excited to hear back about what is happening in Great Britain. Thanks
